E3 2011: Prey 2 - Holy goddamn, Blade Runner, anyone?

Now this is damn cool. It might not look anything like Prey 1, but honestly, who cares?

Can't wait to see some gameplay footage for this. They have a fantastic concept.

Granted... But this was clearly on a bigger budget than most. I'd be interested to know who produced the trailer.>> ^ant:

[shrugs] It's only a trailer/commercial. It always look good. I will wait for playable demos and reviews.

I heard the game play is supposed to be a bit open-ended? I bet it'll be cool - I didn't really have the patience for Prey's whole shtick and wished they would have done Prey with the initial concept they had in 1996.

Meh, another CG trailer full of typical action cliches. Kinda sick of these CG trailers, want to see in-game footage.

Also, this is the NOT Prey 2 I was hoping for. This might've been a cool game on it's own, it didn't need to be Prey 2! Same with that horrible fucking upcoming DMC game. Seeing that trailer... that... that hurt.

It's been stripped of all the uniqueness that made the original Prey so interesting! The portals, the crazy ship, the crazy weapons, the gravity, and of course the protagonist being Native American and dealing with his estranged culture! For once we got a protagonist that wasn't just your typical american action hero.

NaMeCaFsays...

Meh. Unless its in game it dont mean shit. These live action/CG trailers are as bad as the cool ass covers to old Atari 2600 games that had nothing to do with the game they were meant to depict.

Also, I dont understand why they need to try and label this as a sequel to Prey. Why not just make it a new IP / Franchise if it has little if anything to do with the first one?

marinarasays...

i downloaded the first Prey, IIRC, I had to slaughter my girlfriend to progress the story, which culminated with the player committing suicide.

The only way you could continue the story is have another person slaughter their girlfriend and then commit suicide.

Unless its a different art director, this game will suck once again. Bethesda just cant make any games with a dense atmosphere.

It's not being made by Bethesda, they're just the publisher. The developer, Human Head Studios, is a bit of a rarity in still being independent. Look, it breaks down like this.

Bethesda (Maryland) : Publisher

Human Head Studios (Wisconsin) : Developer

Blur Studio (California) : Made this trailer

I see, so after you capture the bounty it gets teleported into the spirit realm and you have to follow it and fight some alien spirits using your spirit auto-cannon and spirit nano-implants. I mean, it's either that or that they decided to dump that whole Navajo-rambo thing they had going on, which seems highly unlikely seeing as it worked so well the first time around.

idc what you guys say, trailer was amazing

Totally agree.

I'm not saying I'll pre-order due to the trailer alone, but it's certainly done its job: making sure I closely follow any further news about Prey 2.

Yeah, this doesn't really reflect on the game, at all. But I'll give this an upvote for being a pretty slick animation.

pros: Awesome environment.
cons: Silly action movie cliches.

I agree with what you're saying, but as said they're not making it - if bethesda were, i wouldn't play it.

But as previously stated as well - this video shows absolutely nothing. It's just a cgi film.
