Dragon Skin - The body armor soldiers SHOULD have

The new Dragon Skin Body armor.. The army has banned it but from what I've seen, I want to get a set of this. It will take a grenade blast and laugh at it...

Failed some closed testing done by the US army. I think it was to do with extreme angle shots penetrating where they would just glance off ceramic plate. Anything which doesn't get specific approval is banned as an insurance type of thing.

Of course its also likely the cost scared them so they decided to avoid the sticky question of why they weren't shelling out for it, by making it seem as though it wasn't fully capable.

Testing methods and examples are a bit crap here though. Since when did terrorists carry AP rounds? And most armoured cars are only designed with taking low calibre rounds anyway. Still steel sheet is a terrible material as far as bullet resistance goes. The ceramics and kevlar composites used in modern body armour are much better.

the test of lying the sute on a grand is pritty stupid as im pritty sure the act puting the sute ontop of the grnade totaly changes the dynamics of the exsplosoin it would make far more sence to place it within 1 m ore so to give the shrapnal space to fly its natural curse

This armor is not "banned" by any definition of the word. The US Military has merely declined to mass purchase this product for its troops. If a soldier were to privately purchase this for his own use, no one would stop him from doing so.

I do think the military procurement process is biased and broken. Time after time favored contractors (Boeing, Ratheon, Lockheed, etc.) get the contract while smaller upstarts with a superior product get shuffled off to the side.

The military alone is not to blame. Lobbyists and congressmen have a large part to play as well.

Yeah, sadly I've known about this. I wish it was a surprise, but alas, it's not. I've heard about this BEFORE any videos were made actually. It's pretty sad, because DragonSkin isn't even the best out there. However, it's the most easily mass produced at the moment. But overall the amount of money put into development of body armor is rather pitiful considering if you could insulate a soldier from harm, you would need less soldiers. But of course, it's not like we're fighting so other people can have the right to LIVE peacefully.

after the grenade test, "Thats incredible, this soldiers face and limbs have been vaporized; but his core is still intact! Ill tell you one thing, with dragon skin on, I'd be the first to jump on the nade!"

Westy, do you misspell everything in your posts on purpose or are you that stupid? I find it hard to believe that you're that stupid so I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt and say that you're doing it on purpose. But why? It makes whatever you're trying to say irrelevant as people just give up trying to read it. Why waste your time?

I want to see this against a .50 caliber

Goofball, couldn't it be that Westy might be dyslexic? Or maybe a non native english speaker? I can understand what he says anyway, not that bothered by his spelling.
