Video Flagged Dead

Doug Stanhope on Osama, Politics, Trump, etc

I like this guy a lot. In my opinion, Bill Hicks was sort of what we now call a "hipster". They didn't use such foul language back then. Back then Bill Hicks was just an abrasive weirdo. I definitely don't like Stanhope as much as Hicks but he is sort of pandering to that style of comedy for this generation and I'm glad for that. I love any comedian that talks up drugs and calls this generation a bunch of pussies. I know you know that rottenseed cuz I just checked and you posted that specific clip, haha funny shit! And then the full video is on the sift but my favorite part of it is this segment that rottenseed posted:

did he just pull the comedian-hipster card?

I would not classify him bill hicks or gorge Carlin as a comedian , sometimes they do say stuff for comedic effect , maby 3% of the time ( unless its a specific routine ) but most the time what they do is just say the truth and I don't just mean in an ironic comedic way , or in a clever with language , or clever poetic way. they littoraly just say how things are.

I wouldn't Evan classify it as DRY comedy or humor because its not really evan that.

I don't think its a bad thing though you would hope that there were more people that existed and picked out the bullshit and clearly communicated it to others, I just think the label comedian dose not do them justice.

Somebody pointed out something to me the other day. Actually it was on satellite radio, but what they said offended me at first, then I thought about it. What they said was that Bill Hicks really isn't that funny. When you think about it, he's not. The things he says are, no doubt, true, prophetic, philosophical, etc. but none of it is really "funny".

I think Stanhope is funnier than Bill Hicks. Stanhope doesn't put himself above crass humor, but he usually does it with purpose.>> ^shagen454:

Witty observations are a well accepted form of comedy. I think you guys may be over-analyzing it.

If the realization of an idea makes you laugh, is the idea funny? No, you may be laughing at the absurdity of it. The absurdity is what's funny (or the shock of it, or the sadness). And I think that still counts as comedy. People laugh for a lot of reasons.

I think u can only evaluate it from the perspective of the comedian if there objective is to make people laugh then its intended comedy and they are comedians .

I never got the impression that the peoples above were "trying to make people laugh"

Who is the ?David Tell? he mentions... need vids

I highly recommend you grab a copy of the Dave Attell Insomniac Tour. It's Dave, Sean Rouse, Greg Giraldo and Dane Cook. The best part is, yes, Dane Cook comes on last so you can just push stop there rather than having to fast forward through it.

Dave also had the show, Insomniac, on Comedy Central for a few years which was both hilarious and interesting.

I saw Dave Attell in NYC and he was not very funny. Also, U.S. did not want to bury Osama to stop people from making a shrine out of his tomb; they buried him at sea the same day in accordance with Islamic law. But of course, ignorant people will understand half the issue and conspire the rest. I would downvote this video if I could.

I am sorry, but this is not funny. And I have no idea why some many of you voted for this except he mentions he likes Ron Paul and calls Trump out. He barely even called him out... Trump bankrupted a casino people. That is the business equivalent of an oxymoron. It is a violation of the space-time continuum.
