KnivesOutsays...Can't we all get along? Yes.
Stormsingersays...Apparently deer don't have much experience with play...he really didn't seem to be very good at it. Definitely -wanted- to though, once he was sure it wasn't just a trap.
enemycombatantsays...Get him or don't get him? Too many mixed messages!
P.S. Deer fights like a girl!
breadsays...Regarding enemycombatant's comment, a deer is a girl. A buck is a boy. You made the right observation!
notarobotsays...Nature is awesome.
shponglefansays...Keep away!
CheshireSmilesays...not sure if the deer knew it was a game. still adorable though.

I stand corrected. Well done.
PHJFsays...Does not seem like a great idea for a pet.
swedishfriendsays...Yeah, definitely not a wild deer. Deer definitely playing since it is not running away.
oohlalasassoonsays...that deer is a wheelie-poppin little dood
Paybacksays...Love the cats looking on in disdain at the weird tall mammals.
Trancecoachsays...Actually, it's neither a doe nor a buck. It's clearly a fawn -- a baby.

Golgisays...the possibility of hoof damage made me nervous, but that was pretty damn cool.
wolfiendssays...cats*
Opus_Moderandisays...she's not ok with the dog biting the deer but the deer cracking the dogs skull with it's hooves is fine? I call favoritism.
Hybridsays...If only Bambi's mother was around to tell him that he shouldn't play with dogs.
couplandsays...Oh world, how can I stay mad at you when you do stuff like this. Come here ya big oaf, gimme a hug.

Doe, a deer, a female deer!
I really liked the way the deer was able to EASILY out-dodge the dog. I mean my dog out dodges me like a pro dodgeball player, but even the dog got sold a dummy. Shows our relative positions on the food chain really. I guess some of us just don't need to dodge that well.

brycewi19says...Damn, Nature. You ain't so scary!
xxovercastxxsays...It's all fun and games until a hoof shatters Buddy's muzzle.
xxovercastxxsays...Unfortunately for deer they can't match a dog's endurance. A healthy dog can run for hours without stopping; a deer will collapse from exhaustion in far less time, possibly even suffering a heart attack. They're too high-strung.
In NY at least, if you see a dog running down deer in the woods, you're supposed to shoot the dog. They will chase deer down for fun and a few dogs can wreak havoc on a much larger deer population if they're allowed to.

honkeytonk73says...don't play with your food!
lavollsays...bah, this is humbug. i think they are just making up new rules as they go along. wheres the goal for example? behind the building to the left?
couplandsays...CALVINBALL!
WaterDwellersays...I still can't quite convince myself that the deer isn't trying to stomp the dog to death.
mamacatsays...This is a great video of our dog, Buddy, and a rescued baby deer. They were just playing together when this video was taken. As the deer (a buck) got bigger, he went to live on his own in the woods, but still comes back to visit our dog and cats and us every now and then. I'm sure we will eventually not see him any more, but it's nice to know that we saved him from death. When he was first found, he was dehydrated and near death on a 100+ degree summer day in Texas. After treating him for deydration and bottle feeding him daily, he eventually became strong enough to live on his own. We caught the little deer and our dog playing with the soccer ball on a few occassions before this particular day. We had to film this, as they were having so much fun running around together. Our dog loved this deer and the deer loved the dog. We often found them laying next to each other on our front porch when we awakened in the morning. Please know that the buck has now gone on to live in the wooded areas in the hill country around us. He seems right at home there. Enjoy!!!!

I didn't notice the cats until the end...
Shakasays...Its easy to tell that the herbivore has a hard time understanding "the chase" despite the diplomatic canine's enthusiastic tutelage.
entr0pysays...That is very cute, though I'd be afraid of the doggie getting concussed though if it were mine.
I'm really relieved to hear it wasn't just a baby deer that wandered into someone's yard and was trapped when they closed the gate. Still, it's hard to tell if it's really playing, or actually frightened and trying to defend it's self in an enclosed space.
eric3579says...After this video was taken, <a href="<object width="480" height="385">">the two cats ended up in a bit of a brawl.
