Dan Savage on the Colbert Report

Because the only argument against it is from a book that also offers advice from God on how to beat your slave.

But most of us here do understand that hatred and bigotry is what wingnuts are all about. The bible is just a convenient refuge.

Very impressed with Savage, and in particular his response to why bullied gay teens perhaps need this more than average bullied teens, or "your average miserable teenager" as Colbert put it. Great answer, great guy, big upvote.

it actually DID, in fact.
pegging was an inside joke between me and my bf at the time when i signed up.

They should be killed?

Why not just go beat up some gays at a gay-bar @quantumushroom? Maybe you could take one out into the desert and tie him to a fence, beat him senseless, and leave him for dead.

That would be novel and new. Oh wait...

For any doubters, @quantumushroom is a dangerous bigot calling for violence against gays (or Muslims, or anyone he doesn't agree with.)>> ^quantumushroom:

Gays ahould be 100% against abortion because when the "gay gene" is discovered, if a fetus can't be "repaired"...

Gay folks are just folks, Bob. They go to movies, they read books, they eat food. They watch TV. They go the gym. The talk to their parents. They have children. They laugh. They breathe. They work, they pay taxes, they cry, they serve in the military, they die. They are human beings, exactly like you in every way that matters.

This is basically like asking "Is it OK to be black?" "Is it OK to have blonde hair?" "Is it OK to be born in February?"

Frankly, its a ridiculous question.>> ^bobknight33:

Im just asking for a coherent and logical reason that being gay is ok. I have yet to hear one.

Why is being gay ok?

How is it not?

ROFL! Outstanding!

I don't debate that gay people are normal in every other way that straight people are. However, people have a choice of being gay. Being of a certain race is not a choice. I gather it feels more "normal/ natural" to those who are gay to have a same sex partner. But does that make it alright to be gay? Is the argument then if it makes me feel natural/ normal than I should be allowed to be gay?

I'm not here to bash gays or anything like that. I'm just asking for a coherent and logical reason that being gay is ok. I have yet to hear one.

@bobknight33:
I think asking for logical reasons is fair.

Individual behavior is assumed to be permissible unless it creates costs for others.

People expressing themselves and having fulfilling love lives is considered to be good for society.

Bob, when did you decide to be straight?>> ^bobknight33:
