Blankfist vs. Netrunner - Dispute Resolution

Back in the day, Inuit would challenge each other to tests of manhood. In this video, they take turns wailing on each others shoulders until someone gives in. Traditionally, strikes would be on the temple, not the shoulder.

I hate it when stupidity is preserved in the name of cultural heritage.

This is stupid? I would file it under boring perhaps. I find testing the limits of pain more of a state of enlightened transcendence than stupid. It is akin to holding your breath underwater for as long as you can, boring, but interesting.

So... when a thug robs the weedy guy at the 7/11: They get to take turns to see who can hit the other one the hardest? I think violent crime tends to be big people victimising weak people. Not sure this would be fair.>> ^Throbbin:

Actually if more people did this to resolve problems, we could massively cut down on violent crime.

Of course it's stupid - there's no intelligence in it, there's not even any skill. It's basically animals butting heads for dominance of territory.

Enlightened transcendance? Thats like saying hitting yourself with a hammer is scientific experimentation.

But i do like the idea of 'Boring, but interesting'. >> ^GeeSussFreeK:

That situation would obviously not be relevant, but you purposely chose a scenario in which it wouldn't apply. I guess you are unable to think of a situation where it would be applicable. Not really my problem.>> ^raverman:

Which is one of the smarter things that evolution has come up with. Unlike humans, most same species animals resolve disputes in a manner that does not result in either of the individuals gaining long term injury.

Doing this instead of killing each other seems infinitely wiser.
