Great idea. I went to their kickstarter page (Really should have had a link in this), with the intention of backing and getting one, but as a non-US person, it'd cost $45 for me to get one.

That seems like a lot considering once production ramps up it's going to cost them VERY little per board to make these.

And seeing as it'd be something I'd muck around with for a week or so with the kids and then probably tire of.

you never know.. the I-PAC encoder I used for a MAME machine was like 40 bucks (http://www.ultimarc.com/ipac1.html) and is somewhat similar. I backed them largely since it seems like they are doing a lot of community stuff with it Time to build a hand-drawn control panel on the wall to activate things in my office.

I'm more impressed with this MIT project than the one that made ketchup slide out of a bottle ... still =o/

This would be great fun for a week, then useful every so often forever, so not a waste at all. I will, however, wait until it's in high production before getting one. Horribly useful thing for the MacGyver-minded among us.

Piano stairs for the ultimate win. Now If I only had some stairs.

We're just about to build stairs at our place, to some areas under the main house... it'll be for the kids, so I can imagine them being piano stairs, and them trying to sneak on them at night to this sound
