At first, you think this truck is driving out of the mud...

Then you think it's getting pulled out by an earthmover. And then....

I used to deive 250ton trucks on an open cast coal mine and i thought this was real. No way, apart from the first long shot, could anyone have guessed what it was, unless you were looking for it. Noise of your childhood - bullshit.

Well the title of the video made me speculate the video more then usual, but I knew something was amiss when there was like, no delay between the foward and reverse motion of the wheels. As soon as he pulled out to the earth mover, the size of the rocks ruined the scale model effect.

Gee, really? You're going to try to say that just because you're not very observant that everyone else must be lying...

I was completely hooked up until the wheels as others. If you really think that wheels turn like that on a real truck, and do so with the noise that they do in the video... then I'm glad I was nowhere near your coal mine.

Up until then it was very, very believable (Although I was looking to see which side the driver was on and couldn't see him)... so yes, many of us were hooked at the beginning. But come on, admit that you didn't see what others did.

spoco2 Cat777 had a turbo that sounded just like that. And i must be missing something, what aspect of the wheels turning made you realise it was a model? Was it because they seemed to turn fast? well, the 777 tyres were 10' and you would be surprised how quickly, even in mud, they would turn. As i said, it was only on seeing the long shot that it became obvious to me. Sorry i'm not as smart as you. As for your smarmy remarks, you would never have been allowed near the mine, so don't fret it.

If you think that it looked real, then that's fine, it was your comment saying "No way, apart from the first long shot, could anyone have guessed what it was"

Well, sorry, I wasn't looking for it, others weren't looking for it (I think we were expecting something else to happen to what we thought was a real truck), but as soon as those wheels moved like that we instantly though 'Model'.

I never said you weren't smart for thinking it was real, I never called into account your intelligence, I was just riled up as you were trying to say that none of us could have possible thought it was a model, when we did.

spoco2..Fair enough. To be honest though, i did say you wouldn't be able to tell "unless you were looking for it". i really must get more cynical. Anyway, i apologise for my smarmy comments in reply to yours..;) Have a good day sir..

I'm watching without sound, and it had me fooled until the wide shot with the earthmover. I thought they'd switched from a real video of a stuck truck to a cheesy mock-up. Going back knowing what to look for, yeah, it'd be possible to pick it out if you were looking for it.

I said it first

Whoa, that guy at the end was HUGE!
e: doh, BoneyD beat me to it :-(
double edit: oh and now I can totally hear the classic RC car servo sound when the wheels turn.

And to you sir, and I would have to say that driving a CAT 777 is one of those jobs that almost every guy dreams of at some stage... the shear scale of those things is incredible.
