Somehow the thought of inhaling something called sulfur hexafluride into my lungs / blood stream seems really unpleasent.

Of course, the ACTUAL!!! reason it makes his voice lower is because it has Sulfur which is the chemical of the devil... and "hexa" meaning six means the chemical is mystically structured with the number of the beast.

Which is why his voice sounds like a demon...

He's actually inhaling devil farts.

It's scientific! But wrong. Sound travels faster in gasses with lower molecular weight, rather than lower density. Most people will tell you it's to do with density because of wrongness like this, but science is about facts, not popular opinion.
