RITTENHOUSE, Law, Verdict

Yes, that is what I meant, as soon as he was approaching with an openly carried gun, wild west rules as I understand them say the moment he attempts to aim at anyone he is open game for anyone who can draw faster.

If you desperately want to live in the wild west that is.

I am totally lost on whether I should be using the sarcasm button on these posts. I am being sarcastic. I believe some form of gun limiting federal law is the only way out of this mess. But then the sarcasm does not make my claim invalid.

I knew an american who came to Prague (turns out he is still here and is still a film producer) who would carry his gun around all the time and randomly pull it out and show it to people at business meetings and in pubs. I thought at the time (early 90s) dude this is SO embarassing. Regular manners in a civilized society since roman times dictate that people do not carry weapons unless danger is imminent. You only carry weapons if you are directly employed to be in dangerous situations, otherwise you are putting yourself and others in danger and appear to be a reckless fool.

So if the USofA consider themselves the wild west to this day, then it is understandable that Kyle was let go, and I say disarm him or shoot him before he shoots you.

Hit him with that skateboard, only harder!

No point crying over spilt milk, someone should have shot the kid first to prevent the violence. Or someone should have not allowed him to have a gun. What does burning his house down now do to help anyone?

The shooting range where you fire over a busy road...

Id better not go there. Last time I tried paintball I shot myself in the foot (literally) in the clubhouse after the game when all the guns were supposed to be on safety. I make all the mistakes that are possible. I am sure I could hit a car somehow.

Car Hauler Vs Amtrak train

vil says...

Pretty sure the driver would apply the brakes first and only later sound the horn. Train takes hundreds of meters to stop.

By that logic, Newt, its back to caves and eating berries for everyone. And 7 billion people need to die to make planet Earth sustainable.

Everything civilization does is toxic in some way. Even living in caves was deadly, ask the Mammoths.

I like how youre taking everything responsibly but in this case you might be lumping too many things into one problem. If we strive for any progress at all we have to take risks.

Maybe the consensus will be that we cant handle the production problems and need to ban the poly stuff, but this video was not the compelling analysis that would even push me in that direction.

That’s why humans don’t deserve to survive. As a species, we’re so irresponsibly self centered it’s going to kill the planet and us with it, all for nothing worth having.

Our society also cant handle cow burps.

Releasing dangerous chemicals, knowingly against established rules, into water, is one thing (a crime).

Banning materials just because they share some chemistry with said chemicals is throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

How to cheat solving a Rubik’s cube

vil says...

Impressive how a machine goes to the trouble of finding a low count of moves to solve the whole thing at once. I wonder if the best humans do this. Mere mortals use a sequential systematic approach which means a lot more moves.

BTW this is not "solving", or "cheating to solve" its just blindly following the orders of our electronic overlord.

How Much Solar Energy is Needed to Power Earth?

vil says...

Can we please have a practical outlook for the next 20 years instead of all this theoretical ideology.

It takes 20 years to build a nuclear power plant, in 20 years we hope/expect/pretend to believe only electric cars will have been sold for 5-10 years so maybe half of all cars in Europe will be electric.

I plan to open a beer and sit back and watch how society handles that. And no I am not worried about Norway and Switzerland or rich people in general.

The Decade of the EV

vil says...

Still catering to the early adopters.

For me an electric car is twice what I can afford with half the performance of what I have. I drive more than 300 km far at least twice a week, sometimes in winter, in an already heavy van loaded with equipment. Keep trying, Tesla.

I do expect progress, but I will believe it when I see it IRL not in a fancy video.

Mom Reads Sexually Explicit School Library Book to Board

vil says...

Poor Cameron. She might let you sink but she wont let you fly.

Dont like the book dont read it. Is it good? Is it bad? Oh it mentions sex? You know what, sex exists! And you know it does after you are at least about 12 or 13 so you certainly should read a book or something. By 18 it might actually be too late.

I have this memory of a beach in England where I was playing with some other kids in the sand and a turn in the coversation suddenly made them ask to see my dick. I pretended not to understand, they asked louder so I ran away from them because they were weird. 10yo kids know dicks exist.

Edit: Its just a book.
