Real Lives, Real People of YouTube

SplinterOfChaos says...

I don't find this very comedic. I love it, but it's the saddest thing I've ever seen. These people have mental problems in an unbelievably copious pile that we call YouTube. Until Yestardy, I didn't even know people did this, but it's a sad thing.

I stand corrected, thank you for enlightening me about Cohen - I saw an irony there, although a little is still left to wonder. I still don't know his opinions on Kazakhstan, but I guess I'll have to see the movie, against my prior judgment. How else can I tell how he feels as a "comedian" than to see his movie and look for a greater contrast. Although I MIGHT still consider it satire without it, I know that it wouldn't help ameliorate stereotypes if he acts racist, whether or not he is.

I'm sorry to any one I've offended.

It's funny. Originally I only decided to comment (I've seen 4 vids without) because I had just lost what ever hope was left of CNN and I get so caught up in a political rant that I forget to mention what Legacy put so clearly. Thanks fo saying what I forgot.

And farhad:
It may be reverse satire (maybe), but to be considered satire there still needs to be a contrast to the truth and the depiction, other-wise known as an irony. Where's the truth among the lies? Although I don't etirely know what is meant by reverse satire - do you mean that it depicts reality's opposite and is thus oppositively true? Even if that is what you mean, it must fit the description of the sub-genre satire, before the (sub?) sub-genre reverse satire. But I'm just geussing really.

I wonder, is it Iranians who have rapist fathers and marry their siblings, Muslims, or just him? I find it hard to find this type of joke funny and find it harder to call it satire. Satire points out stupidity of shows the immorality of an instance. Is he telling me that all Muslims or Iranians commit to rapings and sibling marrage? Is he telling me that everyone in the middle east has no respect at all for women (and if you read the Iraq constitution, you might see more equallity than expected - although inforcement is always the bigger issue).

Can I call this comedy? Comedy is the art ofproducing the giggles. Yeah, some people find this funny, I can call it comedy. But I can't isult an entire genre by calling this satire unless the answer to all the above questions is yes and it's either true or he's pointing out the racist beliefs we have of Iran. And from what I've seen of his movie, he is greated with kindness and the racist beliefs only come when he insights them.

I found several things in this video that offended me, fortunatly they were all blurry and had to make out. That's good because I couldn't turn my eyes away and am glad that I don't really have to.

Google vows to be tough on copyright when it completes its takeover of YouTube. (Sift Talk Post)

SplinterOfChaos says...

I can't say I'm surprised. Not too long ago, but still quite a while ago, they rid themselves of every anime show that ever was on Youtube, leaving only the AMVs, of which I am not a fan.

Although on the subject of Google, did they change how to get the embeded code? I can't figure it out.
