Probably raven. She vanished without a trace almost a year ago. Very interesting and smart.

I also miss critttter and uhohzombies, as well as raven, along with CaptWillard, snoozedoctor, tofumar, thesnipe, and mlx. I know I'm forgetting some others right now (cue Auld Lang Syne), but I value the time I shared with them here.

This place is like a large extended family to me. It's big, but not so big that it's impersonal, like Digg or what have you. And just like any large extended family, there are some members we love, and others that we're not so fond of. Just the same, they've all given this place its unique character.

And that character does change over time, mind you. It's inevitable, whether you like it or not. That's just the way things work in life. We have many new members that I value too, and I'm not willing to say that they are less important just because they haven't been here as long. New blood brings vitality, and helps to refresh this place.

Still, I wish some of my old friends were here too.

I was happy to see looris hasn't left, though. He's very close to a 100 now, too.

I miss all of the above and more. Let us not forget Snake - hallowed be his name.

I feel like I've seen generations born, live and die on the Sift. For some people, especially the intense Sifters, there is a definite life-span to involvement in the community. I've talked to people in other communities who have also noted this phenomenon. The trick to longevity on a community, and in life - is the middle path.

From the reputed members I miss (the videos of) benjee, buttermaker, critttter, gwaan, intangiblemeg, lisacat, michie, mlx, nickyp, pyrex, raven, rickegee, snoozedoctor, woland..

Isn't Uhohzombies still around?

There were some members who vanished right about when I joined - coincidence? - and some who were already gone before I came here.

I miss MLX, because she was such a diligent sifter until Zifnab soared by.
Fedquip has also been on/off for a while.
Michie left when I was just starting up, if I remember correctly.
Rembar, I fucking miss Rembar.
Tofumar was a loss too, even if I think he left partially because of me (not entirely sure why, though).
Ladybug, our resident nurse, would have been great to have around too.
Raven was a good voice too.
Critttter was way cool, but she was not around for long.

There are others, names, images lost like smoke in the fog and like tears in the rain.

karaidl was awesome too, funniest guy around.

i miss gluonium, definitely. but i didn`t realise that plastiquemonkey and raven were gone!

Wait WHAT!? Lisacat is gone too?? WTF?!

How about that gwiz guy? He was real great to have around.

Even after "the accident", you know, it feel like he's still around. Like I can almost hear his voice..



...I missed oxdottir, if only because I really like her name for some reason. But apparently the stars were right as she was summoned back in a sifttalk ritual earlier last month.

Fedquip was the one who indirectly dragged me into the World of Sift through his blog on AOL, so I will have to put him on top of my list. Snoozedoctor had a lot of good music sifts. And you can say a lot about Choggie, but I really miss all his quality artsy videos. I guess I will have to sift them myself now...

Otherwise, I haven't been a member long enough to get to know the vanished sifters through comments and conversation. Most of them disappeared before I joined.

Also schmawy and sarzy. I guess they have been somewhat active, but I never see that stylish kitty and zanny monkey anymore.

There are so many that I miss that it would be hard to list them all and I would be sure to forget some. I would have to say that I miss MLX the most though. I learned a lot from her and miss her great personality and amazing sifts.

Now that you mention it. Where the hell has schmawy been?

I miss theSnipe, crittter, uhohzombies, and MLX a lot, they put in a lot of cool contributions.

Well, on the bright side, we've had some long lost sifters come back to us. Oxdottir, captwillard and deputydig have all come back tah meh.. mmhm. Maybe if I tweek my nipples real hard, I can draw some more people out of the shadows.

Oh, and I've seen obsidianfire and karkarlee sifting in the dark, even if they haven't commented on anything. That's right, I SEE YOU. (though that may just have been their pq'd videos that got promoted)

I miss Fedquip

Raven, Choggie, Rembar & Gluonium, karaidl (one effortlessly hilarious hombre), Woland, Pyrex, Theo, Eden, Silvercord, Firefly, and of course the infamous dude whose discussions...err..rants (along with Choggie's out-there postings) initially piqued my interest enough to lurk the Sift to see what it's all about before eventually joining, Snake Plissken. There are a few others of whom I can only recall by their neat avatars atm...sorry whoever you are, wherever you are. I wish I could remember how I first came across this place.

The lot of them are OK in my book; I know I sorta keep to myself but I've learned much (about myself and the wider world)from this eclectic group of people called Videosift...for that I'm thankful. Because the real world can be so homogenous sometimes.

Oh hey, and where the hell did Rembar go? I never liked the guy but I miss him all the same.
