State Diagram of a Sift

In case you missed it like me - Lucky published a diagram in the FAQ showing how a post can move through VideoSift. As usual, a picture illustrates things much better than mere words.

But really only sifted videos can be flagged dead, right?

gwiz665 is right thougt: the flow chart could be expanded to explain the promote, discuss, discard and kill invocations as well...

>> ^garmachi:

As one who generates process flow diagrams for a living, I feel it necessary to point out that there's no path form pqueue to deadpool (or several of the other pathing options to deadpool...)

That's because such paths do not exist.

I like it, but I think it's missing a few of the more obscure workings.

That is intentional. As I started plotting out all the extraneous states of a video, it got extremely messy and convoluted, so I decided to stick with the basics, especially because that's what's most needed by new (confused) members.

As I recall, that one just included the discarded and killed states, which would essentially just have an arrow to and/or from every other state in the chart because those states can reached at (most) any time.

Nice. Now, add it to FAQ!

It's been in the FAQ for months.
>> ^radx:
Time-out for queued videos is 2 days, not 3.

That's what the diagram says. Oh, queued videos. Is it really 2 days now? I guess I'll have to re-diagram.

Oh, I never noticed that. Heh.
