Publicize member rank increases?

Recently I hit the big diamond, and @thegrimsleeper got his ruby, and I know there's been the tradition of sift talk posts now and then to celebrate such achievements they can easily go missed.

So I was thinking they should be publicised on the front page for say 48 hours. Something along the lines of...

If there's more than one member ranking up at any one time, they should be ordered from highest rank to lowest (as it is in the mockup).

Alternatively, what about @siftbot mentioning the ranking increases in it's weekly achievements blog post? Though the front page would obviously be nicer

It wouldn't be a bad idea, but I think the top of the front page is already cluttered with the SHOP VideoSift banner, promoted videos, and FrontPaged posts. Maybe it would work better if you confined this item to the Sift Talk page.

I promote videos just as much as the next guy, but frankly I'm getting tired of all the crap on top of the front page. Seeing a regular ol' video below the menu bar would be refreshing.

@kronosposeidon - I hear ya about the cluttered front page sometimes. That's why I kept the idea to a couple of lines of text that sit neatly above the promoted videos. I didn't include avatars that would have made it bigger/more visually distracting.

I just thought maybe instead of all the video's all the time, we celebrate the community side of things now and then when people rank up.

I hit gold twice and nobody gave a shit either time.

But seriously... What if siftbot starts a sifttalk post about promotions instead of adding the ticker? Perhaps it could be a single weekly post if that makes people happier.

Also, for those of us who can't stand the clutter, I keep my Videosift Declutter userstyle pretty up to date. The unfiltered Sift has long been intolerable for me.
