Hmm, I'm pretty sure that the small thumbnails for nsfw pictures is hidden by default, aren't they for bigger ones?

In any case it would be prudent to have a "SFW-ize my sift" option in your profile, so the thumbnails for nsfw are disabled and the standard siftbot is shown. Maybe a trenchcoat&sunglasses wearing flasher siftbot.

Also, promoted videos seem to over-ride filters.. Not sure if it's supposed to be that way or not

No, the larger thumbs aren't covered by the NSFW thing. I have seen that thumb before, but rarely. I'm not sure what triggers the replacement

I agree, it would be best if we could keep the thumbnails at least SFW - and a good point about having an indicator in the Top 15. Look for something in the next update.

I honestly thought it might have warranted discussion and it was actually gwiz that suggested a "SFW" version of the sift without using any filters to completely remove content, so in that regard, the sift talk was a success. With only a few new sift talks a week I don't see why you're upset.

I am not upset, I voiced my thoughts on the matter, I simply do not think it warranted the avenue you took, although you are well entitled to it. I simply meant what I said without any behind the scene meaning. Ya know in ontario you can walk around with your top off if your a woman. That I'd like to see. And good for them, I cringe at how backwards we are about breasts and being "topless", people always revert at some point to "what will we tell the kids " well I think you should tell the kids exactly whats what, talk to children, tits are tits people. Fat people shouldnt be allowed to walk around without a shirt on if we are going to only hold it to females.

In general, I agree with your opinion on the naturality of expressing the human body, I just don't want my colleagues at work walking up behind me when there are boobs all over the screen. Same goes with my kids.

As to the location of the discussion, this very discussion is the reason why I puit it in sift talk in the first place. I like talking about this stuff with people. Besides, I feel odd going straight to the top and leaving personal messages to people because I wouldn't presume to know what the sift needs more than they do, so I stick it in here to see what other sifters think about the issue. All communal-like, ya heard?

I have thought before that it might be nice to have 2 tiers of NSFW, one for language and one for nudity. I'm all for promoting some discussion and questioning of the USA tendency to be fine with seeing people get shot/disemboweled/whatever yet throwing a hissyfit when a nipple makes an appearance. Which is not to say that I'm against people having the right to see a good disemboweling or set of boobies if they so choose -- I so choose myself from time to time, though usually not at the same time.

However, you have to pick your battles. When nipples would make someone's boss at their workplace go off the deep end, I think it is only courteous to give them some options to avoid that happening. Same goes for language.

Some of the ads (here in the Euro zone) have more skin than any thumbnails. Not to discount your point in any way, but realistically there are not many nude thumbnails on the sift. I've rummaged through a thousand videos over the past few weeks and noticed maybe 5 (actually many video titles are probably worse than thumbnails... slippery slope). I think you can filter out NSFW videos in setting as well.
