Impromptu Portland Sift Up

I'm sorry for not organizing a proper Northwest Sift Up. I'm in town only briefly, going to a community leadership conference here but had some time to hang out with some vintage but very awesome Sifters. From the left - Videosift cofounder (The Silent One) @jamesroe, @oohahh, @rickegee and yours truly. We're drinking apricot beer and eating tasty food truck comestibles.

I think we have a Meat Space quorum!

By vintage I don't mean human age - these guys are all younger than me I think - but just that they go waaaay back on the Sift. They swear they still lurk and view every day, but they've kind of raptured up into a higher Sift plane that doesn't interact with our mortal Videosift world.

How was the apricot beer? I am not a huge fan of beer flavored with fruits but I would love to try one (or seven). The next time you are in the Northeast, you can head to the other Portland and I will introduce you to some of the best micro-brews in the world.

It was pretty good - just a hint of fruit without being sweet. I'll take you up on that offer. Maine, right?>> ^critical_d:

You sons of bitches. I could have been there in fifteen minutes and I wouldn't have let you drink apricot beer.

The Pacific Northwest has the best beer in the world, hands down. Anyone who might doubt that would do well to remember that 80% of US hops are grown in Washington alone. We had a fire here a few years back in one barn in the Yakima Valley. That one barn contained 4% of the worlds hop supply.

But I swear that if there's ever another meet-up in PDX, I won't get all preachy about the beer.

It was great to have the opportunity to meet the omnipotent overlord of us all (even those of us now in absentia). And yes, dag and James were drinking fruity beer from a truck, but they were drinking them with THEIR MINDS.
