Wow - that's harsh. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. I must admit we don't test for AOL. The browser percentage is pretty small for VideoSift. Shall I post that?

I'm going to cop-out and profer that this problem will be fixed in 3.0

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say I'm probably the only one. Hey, it ain't my choice. I'm still moochin off the folks for another... 15 months, I suppose. Then it's off to college and no more dough, which means Firefox.

Woland says...

The same thing (bad alignment) happens with some folks' profile pages for me with IE as well, but if I resize the browser window to be wider, it "fixes" the alignment issue. The alignment is borked at less than ~65% of screen width at 1680 by 1050, but fine at ~65-100% screen width.

karaidl says...

Yep, same here, all I have to do is widen it, so it's not a huge deal.

And yea, it's my computer, it's just that I've used AOL my entire life. It'd be hard to give up my email address and then there are those features that I've grown so comfy with. (I love you, Computer Checkup!)

joedirt says...

With FF.. you don't get crap installed onto your computer, such that you need a computer checkup (unless you are clikcing the wrongs places on the wrong pr0n sites or emails from sexycindy@checkthisout.com)

karaidl, you are like some proud warrior chief from a long extinct tribe. It's like time stands still in the peaceful 90s for you. Hold your head high as they march your off to a reservation.

mlx says...

Karaidi, go ahead and install whatever browser you want. Open AOL to get your connection, then minimize AOL. Start your other browser and off you go...

As far as the other issue mentioned, I always get those alignment errors when I go to an 800x600 screen resolution. I don't do that too often, only when the text is too small to read and I can't find my bifocals. LOL.

raven says...

yeah, like MLX said, you can use AOL to get online, then actually surf the internets with the far superior FireFox... that is what I am doing right now actually, as I am home visiting my parents, and like JD said, here, it is if time has frozen in the mid-90s and forsaking AOL would anger the gods.

I use AOL for mail and instant messaging. My access to the Internet is through the local cable company. AOL's browser for the Mac doesn't work well, so I avoid it as much as possible. Pages look funny. The fancier pages simply crash the software. AOL software for the Mac hasn't had an upgrade since October '05. Innovating the web page version of AOL is where the priority is.

When Safari started giving me problems with video (crashing), I switched to Firefox. I plan to stick with Firefox.
