2007 VideoSift User Survey Results
The results are in. We stopped the survey after just over 1,000 results. Some of the results are unexpected. Here we go:
71% of VideoSift users are between the ages 20 and 39. But nice to see that we have about 15 people who are over 100. (ha-ha).
I didn't figure that PC gaming would be so strong. I thought we would lean more toward music and movies. I suspect it's the Blue's News factor.
Surprised again. I didn't expect the "other" category to make such a strong showing. I thought the Democrat leaning people would dominate, at least that's the vibe I get from the comments.
No surprise here. We skew nerdish.
The Electronic Frontier Foundation comes out ahead, no surprise with all of the copyright and takedown notices we are running into. We need to think about wehat we can do to support the EFF as a community. Watch this space.
I thought for sure that we had a much larger contingent of females on the Sift - just looking at the top 15, females are well represented. I think we have a lot of very prominent femaies who are submitting and commenting above their weight.

ravenyeah, what about us non-affiliated liberal minded loose cannons? we had no choice but to select other... and as for occupation, I think 'student' should have been a category as that would have probably taken a large chunk out of the 'other' bar on that graph.

KrupoYou can get news from other sources, chat on cell phones, and there are obviously other ways to get music and movies - the PC's a gaming platform! And the political thing reflects the strong international contingent here which is disgusted by both major American political parties (as well as the many Americans who feel that way too).
And siftbot kept coming back repeatedly - wonder how many people entered data multiple times.
Not to mention the fact that some people (ladies?) may have been turned off by the siftbot's creepy-ish appearance, enough to stay away from the survey.
