We just implemented some database load balancing today which, from what I can tell, sped up page load a bit, but I was just wondering if the Sift has also started to seem faster for you.

For the interested, our database is our #1 bottleneck because the site has so many intricacies and allows for so many user customizations, so it's always the primary cause of our usually less than speedy page loads. We are hoping that by splitting our database across two beefy servers, there will be a much welcomed improvement in average load time.

How do I time my page load?

Just take glance at the bottom of any page. For example:

View Mobile VideoSift
page width: fixed - loose

Terms and Conditions - Contact Us - VideoSift Staff
page generated on web1 in 1.7214 seconds

FYI- the "generated" time has nothing to do with your connection nor your computer. It's not how long the data takes to reach you; it's the amount of time the Sift servers took from the time they received your page request to the time they finished generating the content to respond to your request before ultimately sending it to you.

Obviously, even with greater overall response times, some page loads are occasionally a little laggy, but hopefully for the most part, the majority of users are experiencing a bit of a speed-up the majority of the time.
