Ben Carson Wants To Put Something Inside Your Head

BicycleRepairMan says...

The stupid is dense here , but the worst part is the last clip , thats just not true! And he is a brain surgeon ! WTF , thats just not how the brain /memory works ! The brain stores fragments and remembers in patterns, not at all anything like a digital harddrive , where this kind of memory recovery would be possible. What the hell kind of crappy ass brain surgeon is this?

FEC case exposes paid actor Trump supporters

newtboy says...

Yeah, I didn't notice that he linked a fake site that hosts viruses (according to Norton).
Pretty crappy of him to post it here as 'proof' of these debunked claims of paid protestors....but I expect nothing better.
At least I now know to avoid any link Bob posts....I hope others will follow suit and not get suckered like I did.

What's hilarious is, when interviewed, the 'protestors' at recent town hall meetings could and did prove they lived in the areas the meetings were held in, but the pro Trump people actually WERE bussed in from other counties and admitted it....yet they still claim the anti Trump people are paid shills from out of town with no evidence beyond their ignorant wishful thinking. I hope their homes get burglarized while they're over there lying.

This is scam 101, don't fall for it, bob.

Liberal Redneck - Muslim Ban

enoch says...

@transmorpher
i would say we disagree but i cant even say that.
you didn't counter ANYTHING i said, you just accused me of being dishonest.

which has been pretty much your position this entire thread.i thought i was doing you a solid by laying down some history, which helps explain some facets of radical islam.

notice my wording:facets.

do you realize that i taught comparative religion and cultural religious history?
do you realize just how foolish you appear to me right now?

you want to counter my argument....by not countering my argument, and implying i am being dishonest.

ok sweetheart,
i think i see the problem here.
YOU are seeing the dynamic through a singular lens.

you want to ignore the historical implications and simply focus on islam itself?
ok,that's fine.
i find it stupid, short sighted and incredibly biased, but whatever..

yoooou have an agenda to get to don't ya?

ok.
then let us just strip the dynamic of ALL historical implications and focus solely on islam itself.
(which is why you mentioned Maajid Nawaz, and Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Sam Harris, Hitchens )
you clever clever boy...
i see what you did there../ruffles hair.
you are SO adorable when you are being myopic and lazy!

so what would you like to discuss?
how islam is in desperate need of a reformation?
or maybe how the original intent of islam from a spiritual perspective was hi-jacked by his cousins and turned into a political conquest machine, that subjugated ...

you know what?
why am i bothering?
you have revealed yourself to be a condescending, sanctimonious know-nothing.who read a couple of books and thinks he 'get's it".

no dude..you read sam harris.

look man,
i am not here defending islam, because as religions go,islam is kinda shit.
but to ignore how neoliberalism and american interventionism have amplified, and worsened and already crappy situation.

that's not even intellectually dishonest.
that is just plain lazy.

whats next?
you gonna do some 'thought experiments" and try to argue that at least america's "intentions" were nobel?

you WERE! weren't you!!

and this little revisionist nugget "Those countries have had problems long before any western intervention."

oooh really?
because, unlike YOU,i actually know the history of that region.
so if you want we can compare how some cities and countries were considered "progressive" and even "liberal",and even some (granted, only a few) that were considered "secular" *gasp*.

how about this, instead of me repeatedly taking you to the woodshed to give ya some of that "learnin",how about you just go look up the history of kabul, afghanistan.

that's it.just one city.

and then come back and tell me that neoliberalism, colonialism and good old fashioned empire building hasn't been a major force in the rise in fundamentalism and radicalization in the middle east.

it looks like you really ARE going to make go all the way back to the dark ages!

and dude..seriously..hitchens ROCKED,but sam harris?
no..juuust no.
i don't do apologists as a counter argument.

edit:i will say that i agree with this "There are actual muslims (such as Maajid Nawaz)that say islam has a problem(especially particular strands of it), and it needs reform. Embracing the muslims who want reform is the only way forward."

you mean that islam may need a reformation?
*gasps*/clasps hands to face.
didn't i fucking already SAY that?

ah well, foiled by my pedantic ways.

Never Lose Your Car In a parking Lot Again!

dag says...

Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)

Is nobody going to mention the elephant in the room of how crappy the durability of paint on American cars is?

It's a clear example of planned obsolescence and a good reason why they don't make Oldsmobiles any more.

Patient Cop Gives Drunk Man Every Chance To Go Away

Mordhaus says...

If you can find it, I'll gladly pull the video. I just spent some time double checking, the incident did happen in August of 2016, so I searched individual terms and checked each one back to 1 year ago just to be sure.

The terms I tried were: cop, police, drunk, spokane, washington, facetime, bodycam, body cam, kannberg, counts (last name of the drunk guy), sue. I tried each one separately just to make sure that it wouldn't limit the hits by other tags being included.

I honestly can't think of anything else to try, so either someone deleted the original, killed it, or they did a reaaaaaly crappy job of tagging it.

ADG Filler #59 - Sound Blaster Revisions

ant says...

Yep. I only had the recent SB sound cards because of their EAX support in games. Since I don't really game and don't have PCI slots to use my Audigy 2ZS, I just use the crappy onboard sound (e.g, RealTek).

Fantomas said:

Wow this video brought back a lot of nostalgia.
I remember having a 2.0, 16, and an Audigy. Can't remember if I had any others, but my current system has a Zx model.

I miss the old EAX effects the cards could produce, as the modern OpenAL drivers just don't produce the same quality.

Let It Go (Chatroulette Version)

Zero Punctuation reviews Daikatana

spawnflagger says...

Well, not nearly as hyped as Duke Nukem Forever, but was hyped as "design is god", but turned out to be many horrible design decisions (even if you fixed crappy AI, this game was still bad).

I didn't know there was a 2D top-down zelda-like (released in EU,Japan) of a Gameboy Color Daikatana... gonna look for the ROM.

notarobot said:

Checks wiki... "released in 2000?" I was alive then, but somehow missed this game. Guess I didn't miss much?

Man Arrested & Punched for Sitting on Mom's Front Porch

bareboards2 says...

The cop had every opportunity to check with Charlie. Another safety issue for the cops? Going to a house they don't know? In that neighborhood?

And crappy as it is, he was resisting. Don't yell at a cop. Even when they are dead wrong. Just don't. Unfortunately that is just the way it is. Life isn't fair. And I know it is on top of hundreds of years of unfairness. And still. Tug your forelock, look at the ground, seethe inside. And you don't get arrested.

"You can't do that." Yes, unfortunately they can.

Did you hear what the female officer said at the very end? She told a fellow officer to "watch your back" when a car pulled up. Why? Because they might have a gun. These officers do live in fear for their own lives -- because we insist on "second amendment rights" and our streets are flooded with guns.

And does anyone think that the female officer was in the wrong here? She tried to calm everything down. She had no control over the cop who freaked when he thought the scary black man was calling on his friends to show up. And she resigned, lost her job, lost her income. I think she did the best she could under the circumstances.

Why Home Ownership is Actually a Terrible Investment

Khufu says...

Ya, totally depends on where you live. In most big cities buying a home is just too expensive and it's FAR cheaper to rent. Where I live an average tiny/crappy detached house is about 1.2 million $. So the down-payment alone would be more than a house would cost in a small town.

SHIN GODZILLA (Official Funimation US Trailer)

Kevin Smith Shares A Moment With Daughter Harley Quinn Smith

kingmob says...

That was awesome.
I am kind of glad he got back into it.
Even if he is making crappy films they have character.

His best is still by far...Dogma.
Having damon and affleck play off each other in that movie is brilliant.
They were awesome in their cameos on Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back...the best stoner movie...EVER.

Star Wars Battlefront: Death Star Teaser Trailer

coolhund says...

If I think about what would be possible today with another X-Wing game...
But this shit will be useless because of its crappy controls alone.

Unity Adam Demo - real time

MonkeySpank says...

The short answer is "It depends!"

I know it's a crappy answer, but there are way too many parameters at play. There are many games today that have scripted scenes in them that are pretty cinematic. Think of GTA III, from 2001. The cut scenes in that game still outshine the actual gameplay of GTA V today.

If the scene is scripted, then all the animation, and camera movement can be fine tuned and all compute resources are pooled into the viewport of the camera. This allows the artists to focus all of the trickery on the shot itself, but not the rest of the world. From a PVS or scene-graph stand point, you have pretty much reduced the complexity to just what you are seeing.

I do not know how they made this demo and cannot comment on it with any authoritative capital. I've written 3D engines before (not for videogames though) and can comment on the technology I think I'm seeing here. My comments are just an opinion based on what I know. I do not have access to Unity and have never used it before. But here it goes:

For a scene like this, there should be reduced/canned computation in:

The shaders, unless they are geometry (the ripping of the skin/flesh in the Adam scene) could or could not be reduced in scope and complexity. I am not sure if they are scripted or dynamic. By scripted, I mean a geometry shader that reads vertex data from a VBO stream or some memory buffer instead of computing the vertices on the fly. It's still real-time, just not dynamic.

Most of the graphics you see here are standard applications of technology that's been around for a while:

The particle system seems pretty standard as well.

This is a great demo and I am extremely impressed with the art direction, but the engine itself is, after all, Unity with PBR for the characters, and maybe Global Illumation for the indoor scenes, which I believe they licensed from Geomerics.

TheFreak said:

How far behind do the playable game graphics tend to trail behind the demos?

Feels like it's about 2 years.

That's one of the reasons I enjoy demos, because I know that one day soon I'll get to play games with that level of graphics.

Last Week Tonight - Brexit v2 There are no f*cking do-overs

notarobot says...

I just checked the LWT youtube channel. Looks like HBO hasn't uploaded the 'John reacts to Brexit' yet. Once it's up, hopefully we can replace this crappy embed.

It's not a link to original HBO content, it's somebody's own edited version on Youtube.
