I was in downtown Toronto when this happened... middle of afternoon power drops and I left work... was closest thing to a zombie movie I've ever experienced... luckily I was close to freeway and was on the road so quickly... but looking down off the Gardiner Expressway I could see the city surface streets were just completely packed with cars and electric streetcars blocking up all the uncontrolled intersections... no one could get to the freeway and it was just me driving up there... then later when I had to go back downtown at night to find someone, the freeways had cars that had run out of gas scattered along the sides the whole way there.. unreal.

in space? I think gravity is the primary instigator here, so in space you'd need to do this under intense acceleration or in a centrifuge to get similar results. it's just taking a really long awkward way to fall:)

Maybe what these people mean (whether they know it or not) is that their belief in a god gave them the false(yet real enough to them) confidence that they would be ok, which gave them the courage and energy to push through and do all the things to make sure they had the opportunity to have the medical staff fix them. It's like how a lot of people have religion to thank for getting sober and off the street, not because of the divine influence of the hand of god or some shit... some people just need the religious 'narrative' to help them keep moving forward, where others may not need it at all and not see the point.

because obviously if god can physically save this dude's life, then he would have also had the power to make that barrel survive the hot round which I'm sure the dude in question would have preferred.

Wow, this reinforces my opinion about anyone that states "I'm really smart." This is some incredible ignorance, especially the part where she thinks it was 100% her hard work that made her successful and anyone that doesn't achieve the same level of success didn't work hard enough.
