Why can’t i stop dreaming about waffles

Paybacksays...

For the first time in my life I went into Whole Foods the other day. I bought a $9 Chocolate "Mylkshake". Half way through I wanted a waffle too.

Yep. I'm never going back there again.

Now I wanna waffle ... waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

Distract your child, don't video them. You're making a bigger thing out of this by videoing them. They know what that fucking phone in your hand is you asshole. They know it means: "I'm getting attention for this behaviour."

I want to, but I don't think this is funny or entertaining.

I more wonder if she is on the spectrum or at least has some kind of obsessive psychological issues.

If she was just saying it I might feel differently, but she's clearly very distraught, and it breaks my heart for her.

ChaosEnginesays...

My guess is she's probably just tired.

I've seen kids complain about the daftest things when they don't get enough sleep. Often they don't make any sense at all.

Either way, I don't get what kind of parent thinks it's hilarious to put this kind of thing on youtube.

Exactly my sentiments, though I didn't want to assume so much, since the parents could've been recording and sharing out of concern (but I couldn't be bothered to look into it, so I'm glad you took one for the team and made the assumption yourself).

Eh, I guess it’s possible that they could be sharing out of concern, but I find it unlikely. More probable is they thought they had the next Charlie bit my finger” or whatever.

Totally agree. (I also haven't logged on in a long time) This is a terrible parent. Feeding waffles for dinner is not dinner. Filming a spoiled child is not parenting. I'm sure 12 years from now when they find this video, it will explain why this child is the way they are now.

The next generation is growing up with their lives already documented and shared online, without their consent. They will find our reactions to the Cambridge Analytica scandal and to Snowden, and perhaps even the very notion of personal privacy itself, to be absolutely baffling.

ChaosEnginesays...

Some of them certainly.

But this kind of thing is the exception rather than the rule for most of the parents I know. I think people my age (~40) who've had kids have been through the whole social media thing and are pretty wary of it.

I don't think I know a single child under the age of 15 whose screen time and online presence isn't very carefully monitored by their parents for this very reason.
