It feels like Japan is just fucking with us at this point.

The Tommy Lee Jones commercials were epic. He did a whole series of them for BOSS coffee and later continued them with Softbank. Basically, he plays an alien who has come to Earth to study humans. While he's here, he engages in a variety of jobs to learn more about them.

They ended the campaign last year, unfortunately. I think he still does the print ads (I see his picture on the train sometimes) but not the commercials anymore.
