Trump Commits A Crime To Lie About Dorian Hitting Alabama

It appears that President Trump ridiculously doctored a map of the original trajectory of Hurricane Dorian using a sharpie so that he wouldn't have to admit he was wrong in a claim he made in one of his tweets.

On September 1, Trump went to Twitter again saying "In addition to Florida - South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama, will most likely be hit (much) harder than anticipated. Looking like one of the largest hurricanes ever. Already category 5. BE CAREFUL! GOD BLESS EVERYONE!"

No official forecast from the National Hurricane Center showed Alabama in the path and a National Weather Service branch in AL challenged the claim.

FACT CHECK: Hurricane Dorian is not and was never projected to reach Alabama.
Falsifying national weather maps is a high crime under 18 U.S. Code 2074

I'm curious....is this Trump thinking his base is so dumb they wouldn't notice the worse than kindergarten level effort to change the map, or is he really so dumb he didn't notice himself?
Which is worse?

@bobknight33

Thoughts? You're awfully quiet on this one.

Drachen_Jagersays...

It seems pretty clear he did it himself, or he told someone else to do it (though probably the former, the added bit is so wonky, even the half brain dead sycophants he has left in the WH could probably do better).

I don't think he even considers as far ahead as you're implying. He lives one lie to the next. If you're getting raked over the coals for a lie, just go and tell a bigger one.

Sadly it's worked so far for him.

It seems the American Legal System is a farce and joke.
It's there only for the rich to control the poor.
It doesn't apply to any one else.

If the only humans on earth were the top 1% there would still be poor people at the bottom.

Refresh my memory. What is the penalty for lying again? I mean for the liar. I was always told there is a penalty if you lie. There must be a law somewhere, right?

In this case, 90 days in prison. I would be satisfied with that, as long as he loses his job in the process like most felons do.

If Trump is good for anything it's that he shows us laws need to be created so lying has some serious penalties. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse.

Now back to my Yukon solitaire game already in progress.

Agreed, but I'm referring to the legal system, which is translated as the Rich can do anything they want and no one lifts a finger to stop them while the poor can't walk backwards without going to jail for it.

Again, that law exists. 18 U.S. Code 2074
What he shows us is the danger of a sycophantic party unwilling to apply the law against their own tribe.

Oh....and the refusal to prosecute over the meeting with Russians to get dirt on Clinton was predicated on the theory that they were too incompetent to know it was illegal....so ignorance of the law IS an excuse...one that saved more than one Trump from prison already.

I believe that law has been proven to be ineffective.

I'm on to mahjong now.
