Transgender woman dares Councilman to stone her

"Leviticus 20:13 states, 'If a man lie also with mankind as he lieth with a woman, they shall surely put him to death.' I brought the first stone Mr. Webb, in case that your Bible talk isn't just a smoke screen for personal prejudices." -- Pamela Raintree

Boom, bitches!

Bravo and kudos.
I love to point out that (amongst other reasons) it also says to kill anyone that 'works' on the 'Sabbath', or has their servant work for them. (I'm fairly certain the Sabbath in question is the Jewish one, since these laws came from their traditions and bible). That would leave few 'christians' alive, almost all of them mow on Sunday (and/or Saturday) and that's specifically forbidden and a cause for stoning....at least as I read it.
So is wearing 'graven images' of anything on earth or in heaven, so anyone that wears a cross, with or without the little guy, or has a statue of anything that's not an abstract is doing it wrong and probably needs a stoning, lets send them all to Colorado.

To be precise, "those to cast the first stones" would be the two or three witnesses needed to convict, confessions notwithstanding. So barring those witnesses, according to Mosaic Law, she can't be stoned. But hey, it's not as important to understand the Bible as it is to hate it. ... <cough>

What you're saying is not relevant. She is directly quoting Leviticus 20:13, where God tells Moses the punishment for a man sleeping another man is death. There is nothing in it specifying who is to cast the first stone or how many witnesses are required.

And yes I agree, it is very important to understand the Bible, because then you'll understand why it's bullshit, instead of just blindly hating it.

I do not think you know what 'relevant' means. The passage she read didn't mention stoning. Yet she BROUGHT A STONE, and asked him to cast it (conditionally). SHE understood the relevance of other passages of scripture, when carrying out the execution of the law she was reading. Witnesses to the facts and supporting evidence are highly relevant when determining culpability in criminal cases, and the Mosaic Law is the basis for this relevance.

In fairness she confessed to the crime in front of millions of witnesses.

She actually did not confess in this clip. Even if she did elsewhere, that would not be the same as witnessing the crime itself. False confessions abound. Even if her confession were true, it would take a first hand witness to know beyond a reasonable doubt her confession was true.

It's extraordinarily difficult to convict when following the law, and rightly so. It is better for a hundred guilty men to walk free than to falsley punish one innocent person. See American Jurisprudence for the negative proof.

As I recall, stoning is the prescribed method for execution listed in the bible when a person violates a religious law where the punishment is death, unless another method is specifically prescribed for the particular crime.
This should include anyone that eats shellfish, they violate the same kind of law as homosexuals, but I never hear the Christian right railing against seafood restaurants. Can you (or anyone else) explain why that disparity is proper, or is it simply that religion is mostly used to excuse blind irrational hatred rather than it being a legitimate reason for it?

I can't find where eating shellfish is punishable by death. I know Leviticus 11 forbids it.

Don't get me wrong. I think most self-labeled 'Christians' are so hypocritical that I don't even use the term anymore to describe myself. Most of the 'churches' are really just 501(c)(3) religious services organizations who's members are more interested in building their business than actually doing what is good and right according to the Bible they obstensibly believe. So I understand where alot of this anger and confusion comes from.

But if there is something that doesn't make sense then search it out with honesty and humility, not anger and spite towards someone who's wronged you who held the moniker 'Christian'. Just be consistent, be humble, and seek the God who is Good (as opposed to the modern American Christian God who glorys in wickedness). If something about that God seems bad, then reconsider! No one has a monopoly on your mind and your concept of God. Think on His character and His motives - not for a moment but for years.

The Bible does present a consistent history of God and His dealings with man if you just ignore what everyone else says about the book and read it yourself with humility and honesty.
