On long, downward-sloped, high-grade highway sections you will see these... though hopefully better created/maintained than this one. If your brakes fail in a semi truck going down a 5% + slope for two miles you'd better hope they have runaway truck ramps or you're absolutely fucked.

Ok... maybe i'm just not seeing the obvious here... but "Runaway Truck Ramp"?... this happens frequently enough that they actually have a ramp for it?

What's even more bizarre is that someone just happened to be filming one...

Wait... did he think that was just a regular exit or something? I didn't see any brake lights or signs of slowing down.

It's a scientific fact that pressing down a brake pedal is impossible while you're kissing your ass goodbye.

from youtube comment:
this happened in jim thorpe pa while the local news was filming for a segment on how dangerous the ramp was for anyone who really had an emergency. 1) it is on the side of a very steep mountain road 2) it shouldnt have had those huge piles of stone but thats what the state thought was best in the 60s or 70s when constructed 3) the truck was a few tons over weight (the co. make transmission parts) 4)they have since corrected the ramp by grading it in the opposite direction with all that stone

Mountain passes have to have these on commercial roads every so often. Not sure this deserves eia, as it happens enough to semis that they need them. This guy saved his life taking that exit.

Complain to the truck brake manufacturers flatlanders .
