Rachel Maddow - The Fifth Column of Insanity

Rachel Maddow discusses the undermining of the GOP by the fundamentalist evangelicals. Frank Schaeffer does a great job describing what the right has become.

"Can Christianity be saved from Christians?"

Maybe, but why bother? He complains that people are rejecting facts based on faith, but what is Christianity without faith? If you change your beliefs based on facts then that is the opposite of faith... the bible teaches that desiring evidence is a character flaw.

I'm not a fan one-party systems, so hopefully the republicans will dump the social conservatives to survive. I don't think that's likely, but one can dream.

Here's something even more scary....

My brother has a Master's in Aerospace Engineering. He is a retired military pilot. He teaches Air Force pilots how to fly planes. He believes in evolution (begging the question of who set off the big bang, of course, but that's fine -- nobody knows that).

He thinks Obama could be the devil. Because he is such a good speech maker.

My brother is also a Mormon.

This terrifies me. He can never accept anything Obama says or does because he might be the devil.

Crap and double crap.

See this is what they call "Journalism", actually looking for the truth instead of just reporting the sensationalism and hype (and not even attempting to find 'balance' when an opinion is so obviously without a sane rebuttal).

"A village cannot reorganize village life to suit the village idiot" enough said!

Unfortunately, two thirds of the village are the idiots.

I don't think that's the case. A majority voted for Obama after all. 75,000 people protesting does not equal a majority of Americans. Hell, 3 million is less than 1% of the population. And even if there are 30 million people...that's still less than 10%. Maybe if you use Family Guy FCC math (75,000 protesters = 75 billion who hold the same beliefs). So why are we even concerned with an unreasonable, irrational, inconsolable minority of ignorant and/or disingenuous twats?

Samaelsmithsays...

I'm not referring to America as a whole. If it were that bad I think I would be headed for a bunker as far away from the US as possible. I'm merely talking about the Republican party based on the New Jersey poll that claimed 61% of them think Obama may not be American. I was under the impression that the Republican party was the village he was referring to.

There is a very large difference between faith and stupidity.
