messengersays...A very detailed breakdown: http://publicmind.fdu.edu/2012/confirmed/final.pdf
Lendlsays...Fox News: Mission Accomplished.
Trancecoachsays...Fox News isn't "news," per se. It's "news-ish" programming, just as McDonald's isn't "food," it's "food-ish" edibles. What's crazy is when people take misinformation (and even disinformation) as truth or fact instead of the propaganda that it actually is.
bobknight33says...I wounder what were the questions? and answers.
It would make a good survey for the sift community to see where we stand

messengersays...The Simpsons agrees: http://videosift.com/video/The-Simpsons-uses-Fox-News-as-a-Punching-Bag
bmacs27says...What about people that, oh I don't know, read news?
GenjiKilpatricksays...@bobknight33 @lantern53
So is fox still fair and balanced?
hpqpsays...The link in the first comment gives information on the interviewees' news sources. ~70% get their news from local newspapers as well (over the whole pol.id. spectrum).
I don't know how correct it is to say that watching Fox News makes you less informed, but the data clearly suggests that those who watch Fox News are less informed. Is that because FN attracts the less bright, or because it spews nonsense, or both? My guess is the latter.

messengersays...Did you mean you think it's because Faux News spews nonsense or because of both? You can't have the "latter" of three things.>> ^hpqp:

It's probably wrong to think of the fox people as being less informed, rather the information they have (or are being given by fox) is wrong. Fox doesn't report news, it tells people what fox thinks should be happening in the world.
The fox people may or may not be more or less intelligent. They may or may not be able to remember what the news channels tell them. This study doesn't give any info regarding this, it just shows that people who watch fox seem to have a distorted (wrong) view of the world.
hpqpsays...You're right, my wording is incorrect. What I meant was the "both".
@robbersdog49
Considering that the questions given were about facts and not opinions, I think it is safe to use the term "less informed", at least where the question subjects were concerned.

cosmovitellisays...Fox is actively trying to deceive people for political reasons. Up to & including faking coverage on stuff like the tea party rallies (caught in that instance by John Stewart & co).
Every state has stupid people. It's when we let smart people play games with them for money & power things get dangerous. So far it's only cost America its credit rating, and with the Dems in for a while it's not getting too much worse.
(and their President Palin dream died thank god).
But wait till the republicans get back in - these Goebbels types still got a lot of energy in them I reckon.

Churches have known this for eons.
PHJFsays...Flies are to garbage bins as stupid people are to Fox News.

direpicklesays...Actually, what the study suggests to me is that Republicans that get their news from conservative sources and Democrats that get their news from liberal sources are both pretty even on knowledge. It's the Dems that watch Fox and the Repubs that watch MSNBC that are both really terrible.
This makes sense. If you think that you're a Republican (Democrat) and think that MSNBC (FOX) is a good source of news for you, you're obviously uninformed, and the news isn't going to save you.
messengersays...And now Fox as the nerve to suggest anyone who supports Obama is uninformed.
