In answer to your question about the "Uncanny Valley"... Nope, we're just deeper into it right now. It's a creepy place to be.

Definitely creepy, but it does seem to be getting closer to reality than previous attempts. I believe the so-called "uncanny valley" (which is not without its own problems) will definitely be crossed some day in my life time. I embrace a future with robo-hookers.

It's got nothing to do with modernization or automation. It's all about making things that look "almost" human, but not human enough.

Does anyone else find it humorous that we're trying to get out of the uncanny valley so we can get into that uncanny valley?

She looks decent enough for a still camera shot, but nowhere near good enough for motion. I think it will be decades before a robot can be mistaken for human while moving. But I sure am looking forward to it. You think they will dream of electric sheep?

This one has some nice movements, but still sucks at walking and the hands aren't articulated.
