You know, it occurred to me that when Conservatives complain about class warfare, I've been misinterpreting it all this time. They're talking about fighting against class...a fight that is clearly over, since it doesn't appear that they have any.

How does getting pregnant constitute bad health?
And why can't these sorry pathetic excuses for human beings start buying their own goddamn condoms?

Which sorry pathetic excuses for human beings? People who get their health insurance from their employer?

That's what this fracas is really about, you know.

Oh, and you realize we're mostly talking about the pill. I haven't tried it, but I'm pretty sure my insurance wouldn't cover condoms. Though it definitely covers prescription medication, like the pill.

Cal Thomas is a regular contributor to the "drive time" radio show I listen to daily (in Ireland) and its hosted by an actual "Journalist" (remember those?) who will call people (and Cal Thomas) on BS that may try to spout on the show. Thomas provides the U.S. right-wing analysis on whatever the issues of the day are, usually paired with someone like Lara Marlowe or Miriam Lord(? cant remember last name).

I've noticed Cal Thomas is so much more reasonable and his arguments so much more reasoned when talking to this different audience (compared to here or when I see him on Fox news) that I'm convinced guys like him are simply clever people playing a different character depending on their audience. They are getting paid for their contributions or appearances so the more agreeable he is to audiences the more he works.

So I see this simply as a syndicated columnist playing to the crowd with an eye on his bottom line. No one there is going to call him out on that remark I suspect.

@moodonia to me, this video was never about Cal Thomas himself -- I honestly had never heard of him before. I'm sure the entire reason why he said this was to troll the political press, and become hated by liberals, and therefore loved and cherished by conservatives.

I personally couldn't care less about whether he meant it, or if it was some premeditated ploy to try to boost his status as a celebrity by being an ass in public. I'm happy to help him out, because the fact that this will be a positive for his reputation on the right is the real reason I'm posting this.

What he said isn't funny, it's not rational, and it's pointlessly mean-spirited. And the right will love him for it.

Maybe I'm silly, but I guess I hope seeing stuff like this will make the decent people at the fringes of the conservative movement think twice about what that movement has become.

Conservatives are a bunch of wealthy frat-boys who never grew up, never learned the value of community, never had to do a proper day's work in their lives.

I bet 90% of the Republicans in Congress couldn't live for a week in the shoes of an entry-level employee in manufacturing, agriculture or service. They'd be fired, they'd have no idea how to cook or (god forbid) actually CLEAN for themselves. They're so detached from the real world you can't possibly expect them to come up with realistic solutions for the complex problems facing 90% of Americans.

How is it that abortion is a sacrament to the left, yet when one person devalues another person by saying they should have been aborted, the left has a hissy fit?

How do we know how much value a person has if they are not allowed to be born?

How unfair is abortion? how selfish do you have to be to end your child's life? Has anyone ever looked at the long term effect? Yes, they have and it appears that people aborting this children suffer a higher incidence of cancer.

But regardless, if saying someone should not be aborted, why does this only apply to someone already living?

Pretty easy actually. My wife would likely die if she were to get pregnant due to a kidney ailment. You do know the failure rate on condoms, right? And you do know that we're not talking about the gov't paying for birth control. We're talking about the health insurance employers are providing to their workers being mandated to cover birth control pills.

Also, be aware that birth control pills are also used for regulating menstrual cycles, not just for birth control.

@lantern53 is your head just an empty vessel that's been filled with right-wing hate radio?

First, it's contraception we're talking about, not abortion.

Second, the left doesn't like death of any kind. No death penalty, no war, no denying heath care to people because they're poor.

Third, I want to reduce abortions as much as possible by reducing unwanted pregnancies by making sure everyone of all ages, genders, and incomes has access to contraceptives.

And finally, I have a question for you. How do you reconcile all that BS about being opposed to government coming between you and your doctor, when you want the government to come between women and their doctors anytime they get pregnant?
