Why did they knock over all the chairs? Why is he a sheriff? Why is there a crowd? Whats the water for? Why is he in the trunk?

The logic behind this just doesn't stand up. Several of the things he said clearly did / do have reasons. Unless, has character talking complete arse is contextually important in the film, I'm calling bullshit on this one...
