Drachen_Jagersays...

There have been a lot of terrible super-hero movies over the years.

But this year, one movie is set to lower the bar even further.

ANT MAN!

(when can we get an "Honest Trailers" done on this stinker?)

LMFAHS @ "Huh."

I don't know what all the belly-aching is about lately. Looks like fun to me.

And I love Paul Rudd in everything he's ever, ever done... except as Phoebe's husband on Friends [spoiler alert!], but that wasn't his fault.

Lilithiasays...

I'm amazed by how many people apparently already watched the whole movie and declared it terrible or stupid. I mean, you wouldn't judge a two-hour movie based on a one-minute trailer, would you? Unless Uwe Boll or Michael Bay are involved, I tend to wait until a movie finished production and people are actually able to see the whole thing until I judge it as good or bad (and even then I acknowledge that there is something called 'opinion'). This might not be the best trailer, but I'll never understand people who judge a whole movie or TV show based on the first one-minute trailer or even a still picture from the set.

ChaosEnginesays...

I don't know if the movie will be any good, but generally the trailer is supposed to build excitement for the movie and so far, I am unexcited to see this movie. That may change.

Also, the directors previous movies aren't exactly amazing. It's a shame they didn't let Edgar Wright do it.

Maybe they could have, but the person who cuts these trailers isn't very talented?

I admit that it's not the most exciting trailer, but I'm interested enough to see for myself if the movie is any good once it comes out. I liked most of the other Marvel films, so I just expect that the people involved know what they are doing.

billpayersaid:

if you can't put 1 decent minute of film together then your film is shit.
Every one of Paul Rudd's lines is retarded.

LiquidDriftsays...

It's much more common for trailers to be better than the film than the other way around.

AeroMechanicalsays...

Definitely rummaging around the bottom of the barrel. On the other hand, I understand that's how we got 'Guardians of the Galaxy' and I thought that turned out great.

I've never heard of Ant Man before, but I take it that his super power is that he can shrink himself down to the size of an ant and, I dunno, probably communicate with insects. That could be interesting, although it's definitely more of a 'useful sidekick' sort of character than a lone hero.

people were whining the same song with guardians of the galaxy.
it's too obscure they cried.
nobody knows the characters they bemoaned.
why can't they make a movie i want to see?
why is marvel doing this to me?????
this movie is going to suck balls!!

holy crap! this movie is awesome!

and then the earth lost a bit in its rotation as the nerd horde back-pedaled in synchronicity.

seems a large chunk of the problem is that most of the nay-sayers had never read the book.
imagine that...
formulating an opinion based on never having read the source material.

out of all the avengers,ant-man has the most complex and nuanced...
and most human.i wish this movie was about hank pym but it appears they are using the timeline from "the irredeemable ant-man" graphic novel.which is cool...antman is kind of a dick in the beginning.

that being said,
where is my goddamn deadpool movie!!?

Powerful stuff.

Can I have a hug?

Mekanikalsays...

I thought it should be about Hank Pym too. I never followed Ant-Man but if they are attempting to silver screen a relatively unknown Avenger, shouldn't it be some kind of origin story? Telling how Hank created his particle that allows Ant-Man? This almost seems like it should be an Ant-Man 2. Jumping this far ahead in the story seems to alienate people who don't know anything about this hero.

billpayersays...

Ant-Man and Giant-Man would be cool.. Aren't they the same guy ?
Skipping the origins and missing Hank Pym is kinda lame.

But none of that could save this film from bad writing and bad acting, which is why this trailer sucks hard.

r10ksays...

I agree, this looks great. Ant Man is an important character in the Marvel universe. This definitely isn't 'rummaging around the bottom of the barrel'.

Lilithiasays...

I hope they'll include some flashbacks telling the origin story of the original Ant-Man. This would enable them to tell Hank Pym's origin story in flashbacks while simultaneously moving forward with the possibly more relatable (to the audience) newer version of the superhero.

Also, showing a highly intelligent scientist building a suit that enables him to become a superhero could be too reminiscent of the Iron Man origin story. A superhero introducing his successor to the job is something the Marvel films haven't done so far.
