New Login System
We have just implemented a new, fancy system to perform user logins. In the past, you may have been playing a video and decided to vote on it only to be surprised by the horror that you weren't logged in and now you're being forwarded to the login page. It's just an inconvenience that's just the nature of the web, but with this new system that'll never happen again.
Now, if you are logged out and click a vote button for a video or click the 'login' link, instead of being redirected to the login page, a floating login box will appear before you, which can be used to perform your login. If successful, most member features on the page (e.g., voting) will work instantly without the page having to be reloaded.
This has been tested with great success in FireFox 1.5, IE6/Windows, IE7/Windows, and Opera9. If you have a different browser than any of those and have a chance to give it a try, please report your results.
If it doesn't seem to work at first, try shift+reload or ctrl+F5 to insure your browser uses an up-to-date page.

Well, i tried it in IE6 and i can quite honestly say, it didnt work. Sorry old chap.
Perhaps it'd be fitting to mention that you may have to shift+reload or ctrl+F5 before trying it as your browser may be using the cached data for the site.
Give that a try and let us know how it works out. I have used it in IE6 without fail.
Worked perfectly for me in Firefox 1.5. Nice work.
Yup, works now. Good Job.
the sift just keeps getting better and better.
please keep making the sift simple... but tweaked if you catch my drift
i like it and i don't. while very cool and effective, it also bypasses FF's ability to pre-populate user/pass. maybe i can find a way around it, or manually add it to the whitelist. very cool though, that should almost fit right in for vista.
i've also had to refresh quite a bit in order for it to register my vote sometimes.
FF 2.0.0.1
edit: i don't so much log out, as i have FF clear private data, including cookies, upon exiting. maybe i can whitelist that cookie.
i never log out ... so no issues here!
Worked nicely in SeaMonkey/IceApe v1.0.7 in Linux/Debian and Windows XP Pro. SP2!
Getting so tired of having to login every few days... It wouldn't be so bad if the login form would allow browsers like Firefox to remember the password. Seriously of the hundreds of sites I use online the login system here is the most annoying of them all... #2 would be Digg, but at least on Digg I can have my browser autofill my username & password for me, here I don't even get the prompt from Firefox asking if I want it to remember my login. Sometimes it feels like it lets me stay logged in for just enough days that I get used to being logged in when I get home just so that I'll try to vote on something when I'm not...
