mmmm. We have so few sports videos. By Darwin, I'm assuming you're talking about Darwin Award nominees and not a channel for all of our Richard Dawkins videos. I'm sure it would be popular. The logo could be fun - maybe a sifter crushed under a rock with a blue ribbon on it.

but the sports videos are growing - look at the tag cloud.

yes, yes with the darwin award; too many idiots out there. we've got to put them in boxes

as we grow, so should the channels.

MORE , MORE , MORE ....your audience expects it

I think its interesting how newer members are so excited about suggesting new ideas for the sift. I feel like more posts come from nostars and bronzers than anyone else (I must admit to submitting a few "brilliant" ideas myself a month or so ago), while the goldies sit back and enjoy.

I like that the site grows slowly and organically. If every suggestion were implemented at once, the site would be like CNN a few years back (remember when the news only took up 25% of the screen?). Keep it as simple as possible, I say. Google is a great example of this..but click on MSN.com...gross.

Anyways, thanks Dag and James for staying conservative with version updates for the site. I'm imagining 25 channels right now...just doesn't seem necessary.

But I like the *nature idea. As well as *art. There I go breaking my own advice...what a shame.

I don't use channels, but I like putting things in channels. In favour of nature and sport, don't like the darwin channel's name. How about Stupid or Schadenfreude? Art channel could be complicated - what qualifies?

plastiquemonkey says...

better to call it *arts -- less debate about "what qualifies" as the (one and only real type of) *art, that way.

*darwin is a pretty disgusting name for that kind of thing. at least the sift logo would probably be fun . maybe *shock or *action instead?

choggie says...

Ok so, objectively, what qualifies as art?
Statement of Purpose-
Subjectively, hummm this really isn't that complicated, experts, creators and livers' of, and afficianados of social commentary by means of their media of choice, everyone can agree upon, it is all around you, and nowhere at all.
