Yeah, just a disjointed movie overall, but I liked the story and there were several good scenes, including the ones with Robert Duvall.

I haven't read the books or seen the movie, so I'm kinda confused. Is Tom Cruises character *supposed* to be a misogynistic asshole or is it just bad writing?

It's a scene out of context. Turns out the girl and all the 'brothers' were hired to beat him up and/or get him arrested - hence the instant arrival of the cops. Jack (Tom Cruise) knew something was very suspicious from the start.

It also explains why the one guy didn't get upset when Jack asked him if she was a good kisser. A real brother would have gotten pissed at the insinuation of incest. The guy wasn't really her brother, so thats why he was confused instead of angry.

Thought this film was interesting. Very much an American Super Hero film.

People hate on Tom Cruise. Yeah he makes is very easy but his acting is top notch. The guy can carry any scene. Strange guy...yes, bad actor...no.

Ok-I was drunk-Tom can act his off-It's the douche-factor that squirrels me-and his off-camera Hubbard-paparazzi shit, the statements he's made he can never live that shit down and it's difficult to separate the man's trade craft from his systemic, douche-douchey-doucheness.

Only like like, 3 of his flicks though-And for the body of work he's produced, that ain't sayin' a whole lot....Except that someones a picky bitch

He can play any scene, but just one character.... every damn movie. Unless he is trying to overcome a bad public image in which case we get a purposely against type character ala Tropic Thunder.

I didn't hate this movie or even Cruise in it which surprised me. In the books Jack Reacher is 6' 5", 250lbs, 50 inch chest, XXXL. When I heard Tom was going to be Jack Reacher it was worse than Ben Affleck being Batman.

I'll echo that I really like Tom Cruise in this movie. I thought he played the part well. The lawyer chick was totally annoying though--not the actress's fault, the lines/personality they gave her in the script just made her seem too dumb/naive to be believable.

Dara Ó Briain did a bit in which he argued that Tom Cruise is the greatest actor that has ever lived - because he's made numerous highly watchable movies despite being so incredibly annoying.

Cruise did kinda OK in this movie.
However from the scenes and lines you can guess that Reacher is supposed to be a much more tense and menacing figure than Cruise can portray. His I-m-the-coolest-guy-alive vibe works against him here.

I only hate haters. Tom Cruise is pretty good. Fuck you, though.
