Impressive breath hold, but would be nice to have a bit more info, like how deep he was (I'm guessing pretty deep from the lack of colour saturation).

Boring dive site though.

Boring to watch...I bet it's exciting to 'fly' through though!
I would have been too scared of hitting bottom at speed to relax enough to hold my breath long. Dude's got some serious control!

Meh, dive sites should have at least one of the following (preferably more)
- sharks
- coral reefs and associated fishes
- wrecks
- mantas
- caves
- food (in a catch area... no stealing shit from marine reserves.... that's bad juju)

None of this takes away from my respect for this dude. That is one fit individual!

Oh, the guy being filmed is a free-diver, so he can prob hold his breath for several minutes. I was just as impressed with the cinematographer - it's so well shot - at times he looks like he's falling, other times in outer space, so cool.

Here's another video they did together:

You guys must be kidding. That video was fantastic; boring dive my ass!

Also I figured that while it looks like free diving, but each shot is not really that long. Take another lungful from the cameraman's spare respirator and continue floating along. Doesn't take anything away from the producers, I just usually like to try to figure out "HOW IT'S MADE".

Curioussays...

I'm sorry, I know they have a list of credits at the end, but I'm pretty sure that the diver is CG. It's in the uncanny valley with the body movements. I bet in a week they will come back and say, "See? We tricked you all. Hire us for your next animation." They cut away before the foot goes into the sand because not for cinematic purposes, but instead because of the complexity of such a simulation.

ChaosEnginesays...

I said boring dive site, and I stand by it. Featureless, lifeless rock is not exactly my idea of an interesting dive site.

And taking a lungful from the cameraman's octopus would be a really bad idea.

If you're free diving, you don't inhale compressed air at depth unless it's an emergency, and you're going to resurface with the safety diver very slowly.

@Curious, the diver is Guillaume Néry. He's real and he's done this kinda thing before.
