Well actually Looking Glass Studios folded mostly because while making incredible innovative games that were highly praised critically they never sold enough copies and constantly needed capital injections.

When Eidos over reached with its frivolous funding for Ion Storm it couldn't come up with the capital to sustain LGS, the company folded and much of the staff got rolled into Ion Storm Austin.

With Ubisoft buying old Eidos IPs there is alot of speculation that after Dues Ex 3, Ubisoft will be resurrecting the Thief franchise.

Also, I still load up Flight Unlimited III on occasion, and it's sad to watch it try to contact the defunct URL for Looking Glass to see if there's any updates. Sort of like watching your senile Grandmother showing up at the house she used to live in and wondering where all her china went.

I would hate to see Thief become a watered down action based stealth game (oxymoron?) with thin 2D plot and corridor design... All of which synonymous is the 'resurrection of franchise' industry these days.

The last "FPS" type game that I actually liked - OK except maybe Max Payne.

Meh, SS2 wasn't really that good. Really crappy even if you compare it to SS1.
