That was very cool. Hat's off to Microsoft. (something I don't say often)
antsays...*comedy too!!
siftbotsays...Adding video to channels (Comedy) - requested by ant.
Draxsays...Nice!
...though I'm eerily impressed... Like I'm on an away team sent to destroy a Borg cube, and someone on the team accidentally flipped on one of their computers and started mucking with it.
curiousitysays...very cool.
gwiz665says...*quality
siftbotsays...Boosting this quality contribution up in the Hot Listing - declared quality by gwiz665.
demon_ixsays...It's a cute feature, but ultimately it's nothing more than pure eye candy, imo. Unless they manage a ubiquitous coverage like the Google Street View.
Croccydilesays...Man and people freaked out about Google street view privacy before, wait until they see this!
(I want to see this become reality, since photosynth is awesome)
Gabe_bsays...I may get (deservedly) flamed for this, but seeing this only makes me love google more. MS is being forced into a genuinely competitive position for the first time in years (no disrespect to mac peps, I love you all).
And the way they are fighting back is by trying to counter possibly one of the most mind-blowing free techs ever created, and improve on it. God bless them, no doubt, but I don't think they would have even considered any of this had google not chosen to forgo a round of dividends and rather map a significant majority of the developed world street by street, road by road, highway by highway. I wish both companies all the best, and I'm glad MS is going for one-upsies rather than just catch-up.
criticalthudsays...can't wait until microsoft can see EVERYTHING. with image recog and micro tech, privacy will be such a thing of the past. sweet. really great stuff to NERD OUT on.
NetRunnersays...Is it still Orwellian if it's not Big Brother watching you, but everyone watching everyone else?
I'm not sure, I guess we're gonna find out.
harrysays...So at some point we can just go live in Virtual Earth, and we don't need this overheating ball of clay anymore?
mxxconsays...same video, a bit higher resolution
Deanosays...OK what the hell is going on with this guy's accent?
Impressive tech, perhaps ahead of it's time given what people actually do with maps online currently.
AmateurDsays...When I saw their TED tech demo for PhotoSynth 3 years ago, my jaw hit the floor. Never did I imagine it would be implemented like this. This took the awe I had the first time around, and multiplied it by 10. I literally could not stop saying OH MY GOD out loud when I saw they had live video syncing with the already impressive still image gallery.
I love Google Maps. I own a Droid. But if this hits mainstream, Bing Maps would quickly become the new king. This could put Bing close to even footing to Google as a search engine. That's how impressive this is.

While the tech is really cool- I've come to my senses and will now commence pummeling MS in my usual fashion, thusly (ahem):
This will be fantastic when the product guys make it run on Windows Live Hotmail® Passport™ Series SilverLight™ 2011® Ultimate Edition New with Bing™ Service Pack 11.
