His father also but tons more (like $70 million) in guarantees. His father also purchased $3.5 million in chips at one of Trump's casinos, an action that regulators zinged Trump on. Actual money is over $14 million, ans Fairbs notes, until he's got the courage to show his tax returns for many years, he can't prove how much he's actually worth, and how much debt he holds... And there is no media firestorm over him the way Fox had daily for 8 years about Obama...

And, as John Oliver pointed out with great humor, Trump has had one failure after another as a businessman. But his name has recognition so it's useful as a brand. So OTHER people put his name on their buildings and such, and then he swaggers around taking credit for it.

But yes, he's kind of dumb. And I'm not saying that because I disagree with his politics (hell, I don't even know what he truly believes). There are plenty of conservatives that I think are brilliant. It's just very obvious from hearing him talk that Trump is dumb. The vocabulary of a middle-school kid, the lack of knowledge about history an adult should posses (let alone the President), lack of intellectual curiosity, lack of self-awareness, etc.

He's extremely confident and arrogant, and this has helped him succeed. I know people like that from my childhood. You think they're so stupid they wouldn't even graduate high school, but they somehow end up successful.

They bet big because they don't question themselves, so they go all in, and sometimes they win. Meanwhile, a lot of extremely smart people constantly doubt themselves, are too self conscious, etc. to make any bold moves.

But of course when you bet big, you lose sometimes too. And we've seen Trump lose a BILLION dollars in a boom economy in the fucking CASINO business.

The American system is stacked toward the wealthy.

He inherited 200 million in NYC condos in the early '80s. If he'd held on to them, they'd be worth an estimated 12 billion today. If he'd sold and put the money in indexed stocks, he'd be worth 10 billion today. By his own most generous estimate he's worth 8 billion today (and less biased estimates have him out of billionaire status entirely).

Trump filed for bankruptcy four (I think, might have been more) times, each time structuring his debt so the shareholders got screwed and he got away clean.

He's accepted hundreds of millions of dollars worth of sweetheart loans from Russian banks. Every American bank has him blacklisted.

He's screwed contractors, employees, and practically everyone he can for years.

He's stiffed debt collectors for decades.

He's paid no taxes for decades.

In spite of all those benefits, he's still managed to lose approximately 90% of the massive wealth he inherited. Yeah, brilliant person.

BTW, every time I hear about the Dunning Kruger effect, I think of you and all the other Trumpites, Bob. It's worth giving some critical thought, if you can manage it.

BTW....Hillary DID win the election, but lost the electoral college...something you seem to have forgotten because you believe Trump when he says he won by the biggest margin ever and there were 3 million fraudulent votes, all for Clinton (even though the only one actually found voted twice for Trump) and you never even check to see if it's true. At least we finally have an investigation of Russian involvement (and any cover-up of it) where Trump can't fire or blackmail the lead investigator. Time will tell what he finds.

I know you think that...there is none so blind as he who will not see. There's plenty of circumstantial evidence, which is not fake news but also isn't proof positive, but is all that's needed for the court of public opinion. For treason charges, we'll have to wait and see what they can prove, but that's getting easier and closer with every forced firing.

Nope. In America, as you've mentioned before, (for presidents only) it's not the election, but the electoral college that counts. He lost the election, he won the college.

"Proof" is a silly word in this context. I have a mountain of evidence of reported contacts by his team that they continue to hide and deny, numerous investigations being interfered with, known foreign agents being given the highest security clearance, and the president just whining "I didn't do it" like a 3 year old covered in ice cream claiming it wasn't them that ate it, while doing everything possible to stop the investigation rather than act like an innocent person and welcome it.

And now we have him inviting Russia into the oval office to plant bugs and celebrate Comey's firing by sharing top level secrets given by Israel with them, Israel's enemy. If there wasn't collusion before, that certainly covers it handily.
