edit: and why I feel sorry for the wives/gfs. Let's not even talk about women who are enthusiastic about professional sports..

I love sport finals. I go over to people's houses for the Grey/Stanley Cup, Superbowl, whatever. I roll in there with my snack food, alcohol, and chips. The mood is electric and as the game is about to begin, I look around the room and ask:

"OK, who is playing?"

Wow, do I get some funny looks. When they ask why I don't know the teams or what is going on I reply very sincerely that I am here to drink alcohol, eat snack foods, and yell at the TV, and this is pretty much the only environment that allows me to do that.

They have fun their way, I have fun mine.

Garfunkel and Oates? What's next, a movie by George Spielberg and Stephen Lucas about a boy, Indiana Skywalker, who loses his adoptive parents but finds them on an ancient spaceship which crash landed in Bolivia, manned only by the ghost Force of Adolf Palpatine?

I sure hope so.

Pretty much sums up how I feel about sports. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the strategy and athleticism that goes into the game. modern sports is about money and spectacle though. And yeah, the whole concept of sitting around all day doing nothing but watching sports never appealed to me.

I'd rather actually play a sport and suck at it than watch a sport.

My favorite sports team is zerg.

There's room for both. I do plenty of sports/activities, but I still enjoy watching people who are really good at them perform them at a high level.

And yeah, there are some sports I enjoy watching more than playing. My time is limited and for me, joining a rugby team or learning to be good at Starcraft would mean sacrificing another aspect of my life.

But a few hours to watch a game? That I can totally do.

I also prefer to watch sports live. TV just kills part of it for me. I would much rather be in the stands and I find the whole thing much more enjoyable.

Live is definitely better. Shouting insults at the TV is so much less satisfying
