It boggles my mind that people are allowed to interject like that and cause large amounts of wasted time. Why not just deal with objections on a technical basis after hours and have the guilty person reprimanded when there aren't dozens of people sitting there doing nothing (and getting paid large sums of money for it) until process resumes.

gharksays...

Wow i've been waiting for the "put up or shut up" for a while, it's nice to hear Maddow actually say it -

"you ignore the public option .... at your very grave peril"

But it makes me wonder, does America even care enough for this to be true?

Keep fucking that chicken. This country is bought and owned by the Corporate Citizens. These people aren't the heroes you think they are. Read the damned bill. It's a corporate playground in there. Read it for yourself. If you can get it to load and go easy on the CTRL F that causes a massive slow down.

Did you read that? No, I thought not. The bills are so complicated that you need a lawyer to understand them, and then even that. Tax law is the only place where it is permissible to use Ignorance as a defense. Ignorantia juris non excusat

That is what is fundamentally wrong with this nation. The laws are so god-damned complicated. That's why tax laws never been wholly reformed or edited.

It's like trying to shoot yourself in the foot with C++ programming.

C++
You accidentally create a dozen clones of yourself and shoot them all in the foot. Emergency medical assistance is impossible since you can't tell which are bitwise copies and which are just pointing at others and saying, "That's me, over there."

Yeah, cus we see how well the free market is currently handling the problem. None of you were around during the days of steel towns, and the railroad baronies. Where a town was effectively controlled by the Company. From cradle to grave, you were essentially, a slave. The Company owned EVERYTHING, including the 'police'. They typically used fear as a weapon to keep workers in-line, un-unionized, and unable to protest for better wages and working conditions.

Its really to bad, so many Americans don't know their American history.

Hey guys, I know this is a distraction from people yelling at each other, but what are the rule sets they follow for calling people to the floor and stuff. I know it is some formalized meeting style that has a name, but it escapes me.

Interesting post nordlichreiter - i don't think too many posters here would believe republicans and democrats are not two sides of the same coin though, if you've listened to any Noam Chomsky (as one example) you would know that. There really is no left or right, there is just business. The Democrats are doing a better job of pretending they are trying to do something, that is about all.

Watching Maddow interview Barbera Boxer is imo a pretty good example of what you are talking about, this (Democrat) chick is pure evil, on one hand she's using great talking points and probably getting a lot of support because of it, on the other hand she's been part of the reason the public option is dropped from the current proposal. In one breath she says how great the public option is, then in the next breath tries to use a sales pitch to explain to everyone why they don't need it.

She's also willing to block (using her 42 odd group of voting buddies) any bill if it includes the current abortion wording, which is just part of the game to delay this bill as long as possible so they can pretend they are dropping important aspects of it to "meet half way". The worst for me is her tone, she puts on this smarmy tone, talks slowly as if she's talking to a child, and uses a healthcare example of a child with a cleft palatte to try and get sympathy support, something someone like Sarah Palin would do. For her, it's all just a sales pitch.

Here's the vid (you can avoid the ad' if you access it through the playlist in dag's Rachel Maddow vid - it's the top right one)

What? You mean government regulation may actually mean corporate collusion? Never! Big brother loves us.

quantumushroomsays...

taxocrats only care about expanding government. At MOST there are 12 million uninsured in America, not 50 million. A trillion "extra" dollars to cover 12 million uninsured seems like overkill, even for this government. And anyway there's not enough money for the entitlement programs already in place, so there's nothing left to pay for obamacare. Government never makes anything cheaper or more efficient, but hey, don't worry, Weiner's here to ensure "the American people aren't gouged." This guy and his ilk--all recipients of health care industry dollars just like the other side--will be dead and gone long before your great-grandchildren are paying for such follies, just like we today are still paying for FDR's and Johnson's.
