Sir Patrick Stewart presents a fascinating introduction to the European Spallation Source - one of Europe's most advanced and exciting scientific projects.
For the past 2 decades Europe has been designing and planning the ESS, a major science facility that will provide the world's most intense beams of neutrons for the study of the structure and dynamics of materials at the atomic level.
ESS has been described as the Hubble telescope of neutron sources, probing deep into materials with unpresidented clarity. It will be one of the most important and prestigious scientific research facilities in the world, enabling developments as diverse and as significant as drug design....new magnetic materials for data storage...super strong, super light ceramics for engineering.... biocompatible materials for repairing our fragile bodies.......hydrogen fuel for clean transport ......innovative processes for capturing carbon.... the list is endless.

jonnysays...Ok, I understand how they are able to provide inverse reactive current to the unilateral phase detractor, but unless they have a Turbo-Encabulator, how do they synchronize the cardinal grammeter? Even with a Turbo-Ecabulator driven with magneto-relecutance and capacitive diractance, it doesn't completely solve the problem of sinusoidal deplenaration.
Lowensays...... But is there any nudity in it?

I think they are planning to use a Johnson rod.

Just send a polaron pulse set to the frequency of cosmic background radiation through the main deflector! Duh.
messengersays...I just hope they don't accidentally discover an easy way to make nukes in your backyard. What a great world it would be after that.

Of course there is, and if the machine happens to malfunction it gives those in the immediate vicinity the power to remove women's clothing with the power of their minds.

Reefiesays...Ohh spallation... Damnit, was anticipating a spelunking fix.
heathensays..."Oh yeah, bring on the spall, baby!"
Ornthoronsays...Frontier physics AND Patrick Stewart! This one deserves a top 15 position.
siftbotsays...Boosting this quality contribution up in the Hot Listing - declared quality by Ornthoron.
spawnflaggersays...Stewart is a chancellor of a university ?
Patrick Stewart agrees to second term as University Chancellor
Is Huddersfield a cover for the real Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters ?
On a serious note, the ESS is exciting science news.
jonnysays...hmmm, mindless nudity comment = +3, dorky TurboEncabulator comment = +0
mental note made, catalogued.

Sometimes, after a few drinks at a pub - I'll do a Patrick Stewart voice at the urinal - and say "engage, number 1".

right - I forgot about that. That is pretty good.
Smugglarnsays...Proud to have it built in the city in which I live.
Let us hope this solves the mystery of how the Moon got there or those pesky tides...
jwraysays...Seriously? Mocking the scientific terminology in this? I understood every word of it.
jonnysays...Uptight much? I understood the description as well - just thought I'd have a little fun with it. It's called a joke.
