When she presses the button, are we to assume she's the one dying in those alternate universes? If so, wouldn't he then also press the button, leaving behind even more dead versions of himself?

So only copies of yourself ever get to experience what feels like time travel. All those first attempts look like complete failures leading to death. Bummer.

Why, with a single press of the button, does only the pusher's copy die in the other universe, but not all the other copies made by pressing the button? Shouldn't her copy die as well as his? What makes the copy of him die, but lets everyone else in the copy universe keep living?

Never mind, I think I'm missing the punch line.
