MINKsays...lol you were googling paris hilton and you know it
as a double protest, i refused to watch this clip, but upvoted it anyway.
Tofumarsays...Hope! There is hope yet!
Baquetasays...Best. Sift. Evah!
BicycleRepairMansays...Was this actually on, or are they just goofing around during commercials or something, if it was live, it sure beats the shit out of an actual PH story, but it doesnt seem like the sort of streamlined, choreographed stuff usually done on TV..
bluecliffsays...She seems honestly pissed. But who knows.
grspecsays...BRM I kinda feel it was scripted however I found this quote from someone which I think is fitting.
"If it was scripted, then it's a network statement. If not scripted, then a journalist's statement. Either way, it's a good statement."
dw1117says...I agree with that statement and if it wasn't a network statement then I salute Mika.
legacy0100says...Brava. although i kinda wonder if MSNBC allows too much personal opinion airing on national telly. just cuz she's a journalist doesn't mean they'll always be saying things that are balanced and non-biased.
but i suppose this one can be overlooked
Enzobluesays...Is Mika single? Anyone? I gotta throw my hat into the ring there.
Kruposays...So she *IS* the daughter of Zbigniew Brzezinski - nice. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mika_Brzezinski
Enzo - she's 40. But she's Polish, hence the hawt.
MINKsays...ok i caved in and watched it.
script.
you don't normally have that many cameras handy to film the conveniently placed shredder.
fireflysays...Good for Mika!
S_DOG34says..."you don't normally have that many cameras handy to film the conveniently placed shredder."
Not that I necessarily disagree that this is scripted, but there are tons of cameras in a newsroom. Its not too hard to turn one of them to focus on something else. Weak argument.
HistNerdsays...I heard about this on the radio. From my understanding, shortly after, the producer made them go with the story, but she didn't go along with it, one of the other guys told it.
MINKsays...dude they wouldn't keep an noisy shredder near a place with lots of live mics. they wouldn't LIGHT the shredder. They wouldn't cut to it smoothly. It all smells bad (regardless of the bad acting).
Hexsays...BRAVO!
bluecliffsays..."Along with your all-Paris channels, Big Media is willing to pipe you a Paris Fatigue channel, and will make damned sure that they simulate your favorite outrage."
from the same place as grspec's comment.
That's the problem of postmodern society, you can doubt, re-doubt, contra-doubt, and re-contra-doubt anything.
theo47says...Uh, her first complaint should be having to do a show with Joe "I Killed My Intern" Scarborough.
entr0pysays...Notice all the jabbering and lame jokes of her co hosts? That's because this is a morning news show. Doesn't she KNOW that all Americans can take in the morning is fluff stories and lighthearted bullshitting? There is a time and place for being a principled journalist, and it sure as hell isn't before 11am.
pipp3355says..."Recently Don Imus slagged Scarborough with a question from left field: "You said you had sex with that intern and then you had to kill her."
Scarborough, laughing, replied, "Yeah, well what are you gonna do?"

"there is a time and place for being a principled journalist"
I agree. That time and place is on a morning news show that blatantly tries to use a celebrity story of complete and utter meaningless drivel to distract viewers attention away from Iraq.
Respect to Mika!
Whether it was scripted or not is completely irrelevant, and is just more distraction from the point that was brilliantly made.
America is still doomed.
statueofmikesays...Those two men are pathetic. They'll say whatever they're told to, just to keep selling those O'Reilly-esque personas of knowledgeable, reasonable men. Too bad Mika began standing up for her beliefs. Naturally, they had to do their best to shut her down before it looked like she has more of a grip on reality than they do.
bhyphenlowsays...That's hot
choggiesays...yee ha mika, power move, now...get yer own show, cult o' hersonality, and spinnnnn....msnbc most shit needs being cleaned
entr0pysays...@Irishman
I agree completely. My comment was sarcastic actually. I'll have to add a little note at the end next time.
harrysays..."Don't be such a journalist"... myeah.. oooookay. Sure.
Thankfully the international CNN doesnt make Hilton 'BREAKING NEWS', but I've still seen enough of this crap. Any mention of that brainless excuse for a woman is one too many.
dagsays...Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag.(show it anyway)
That was great. Doesn't seem scripted to me. More that "late night ad-hoc, say stuff because no one is watching" kind of show.
rychansays...I really don't see this being entirely scripted. The two guys seem so sincerely bewildered by her behavior the first two times that they'd have to be incredible actors to pull it off. Just look out how uncomfortable the guy to her right was when she was trying to light the script on fire.
But the point about cutting so cleanly to the shredder is good. Perhaps after the first couple of rounds the producer/director decided to keep going with it.
Also, Joe at least wasn't being pathetic, he was encouraging her at the same time he was teasing her. It was just faux criticism from him, and when they covered the story himself eventually it was obviously a very mocking tone.
Kruposays...Wow, insanely high score. Lady reporters score high around here.
Fletchsays...I think France gets way too much press too!
jwraysays...France is way more important than a stupid drunken heiress.
AnimalsForCrackerssays...This post has me envying those with downvote powers. So I upvoted instead....
doremifasays...Empty posturing.
AnimalsForCrackerssays...Very true on both accounts.
