Kreegathsays...This used to be considered a dupe of: http://www.videosift.com/video/Mechwarrior-5-Teaser-Trailer-Looks-great
But nowadays I'm not sure.
Zyrxilsays...This was posted 5 hours before that one, which makes that one the dupe.
Kreegathsays...That is correct, thanks for noting it.
Draxsays...>D
They're releasing Mech 4 and expansions for free soon here too.
moodoniasays...Mechwarrior 5? I better get back to finishing 2.. old game saves
NadaGeeksays...ok, stock warhammers at 50 paces , i look forward to firing on fellow sifters , now i'm gonna start burning joysticks out every 6 months again.
Go FASA
F microshaft!
Yea Jordan!!!
Tymbrwulfsays...Holy shit this is exciting news.
ForgedRealitysays...Too bad this entire thing is CGI and not in-game footage. It's an artist's rendering of what the game MIGHT be similar to.
JAPRsays...Mechwarrior is love. I really would like to have a new one to play.
Raaaghsays...Wow. Ive been playing quake live, and that was soooo sloooow
lertadsays...Doesn't look playable.

Yeah, as fake as it gets
They should come back when they actually have some gameplay to show us.
Or just make a cinematic trailer.
Fake gameplay doesn't interest me.
Lendlsays...I'm going to play my MW2 soundtrack now...
AeroMechanicalsays...If you look in the bottom right, it does say "In game footage" so presumably it is. It's surely a scripted cut scene though, which generally makes a big difference in the presentation. I wouldn't count on all of the effects, like the building crumbling, when you actually play.
edit: You need to watch a higher quality version to see it.
Shepppardsays...It's been stated that the game isn't actually "MechWarrior 5" just straight up "MechWarrior"
Decent FAQ page here

Fred_Chopinsays...The fact that it's on the PC means that there is a strong possibility that we'll be able to use the "Steel Battalion" controller (using the existing pc driver) to play the game. Would be amazing!!!!
dethetersays...I'm such a geek for this franchise. I still go back and re-read all my old battletech novels to this day. I have all of them! As well as several hundred dollars worth of source books and rulebooks, every PC game, completed many times, and a combined arms regiment of miniatures. I also collected the TCG, and have shitloads of cards. Long story short, I'LL KILL YOU IF YOU !!!FUCK!!! WITH THIS GAME, I'LL KILL YOU IN THE GAME, PREPARE TO DIE ON THE BATTLEFIELD!!!
*pant* *pant*
okay...
anyways, yeah, my demands are simple...
Don't bring me any games past 3070 in the in game universe, stay true to the source material, allow us to customize Mechs along the lines of the Mechwarrior 2 method, aka, the actual way of outloading mechs according to the battletech source books (ie. NOT the way it was done in Mech 4) and give us a god damn movie with a decent budget that isn't directed by the asshole who did Eight Legged Freaks. And I want my own simulator, complete with heaters so that when I fire all my weapons, I cook to death in my cockpit, the way it should be. That will be all.

Says "In-Game Footage" in the trailer. Downvote from me for both of you.
OpticNervesays...GIVE. NOW.

If I could nuke idiots who don't pay attention when something is actually rendered in "real time", we'd have a lot fewer people on this earth.
Then again, I'd probably be in jail to. GO-GO freakin' real-time Mech' killing. I've been waiting for a new MW game for the last 6 years.
Paybacksays...Pretty shitty CGI --IF-- it was rendered...
They also would have hid the Atlas better, you can see it walk into place before you go through the smoke.
AnimalsForCrackerssays...Supposedly it's also coming to the 360; this fact makes me worry for the simulator aspects that were tossed out for MW4, Mech Assault, and to a lesser degree, MW3. Looks promising so far though. It's also using Unreal Engine 3, which makes me worry for the size/variety of the environments and the overall "feel" of piloting a 70 ton, unwieldy endo-steel 'Mech.
Something about the inescapable light, floaty, intangible feeling of all the Unreal engines when they're used for non-Unreal intellectual properties...Tribes Vengeance comes to mind. Something that's kinda hard to explain. Unique properties like Tribes and Mechwarrior seem to be the type of game where the game engine should be built from the ground up to suit the authenticity of the experience.
If they can get past those hurdles and other longtime fan concerns then this game will definitely resurrect the part of my inner child that died when Duke Nukem Forever was axed.
Approaching this with skeptical enthusiasm if such a thing exists.
zombieatersays...Fuck all that.
I want the game I first played. The original Mechwarrior. 1989. EGA and all, baby.
Ah, my wasted youth.
StukaFoxsays...Um, yanno, if your robot thingy is gonna blow up like a nuke, maybe the ejection system should shoot you out sideways or something.
