This reminds me of the mythbusters "surfing with dynamite" experiment.
They said it was busted, but that looked pretty surfable...couldn't say the same for survivability.

Hah! I remember that episode, as well. Looks like it isn't busted after all. You just need to use a bigger bomb and be farther away from the blast.

I heard that some camper on the far side of the lake tore a tag off their air mattress.

Yea. Somebody set off an explosive under water in a lake and then it made a large wave and the wave hit the camera.

looks like it was detonated right under the coast.

I think it is most likely a quarry that is being blown with a series of charges. Just my guess.

they were testing if the myth held up with the reported stick of dynamite. to make a large wave, a stick of dynamite is not enough.

That was WAY better than I expected! When I saw the first explosion I was disappointed for a split second and then it got really good. I love explosions!
