GeeSussFreeKsays...This is great to get the audience involved, you can see these kids thinking. This is a great teacher.
GenjiKilpatricksays...I've seen this on here before i think
poolcleanersays...You should also include the website that Sandel set up for these lectures in the description: http://www.justiceharvard.org/
Thanks for this awesome sift!
JiggaJonsonsays...Sam Harris put it well when he said that every rule has its exception just like it's a good rule of thumb to not give up your queen in chess, but sometimes giving up your queen can be a brilliant move.
vaporlocksays...I miss school...
gharksays...self knowledge is lost innocence
so true
Powel6016says...Very interesting lectures. A nice input into the life of harvard college students. No wonder I didn't get into harvard lol..
Great Share
NinjaInHeatsays...As much as I enjoyed that, am I the only one who was surprised by the students' "level"? I can't say I understand what someone has to do to get into Harvard but considering it has such a reputation I'd expect the students would be capable of better rhetoric...

You saw them remember the names of all the people on the lifeboat, and add up how many days they were on it. They were taking notes on his speech about philosophy telling us what we already know, probably with lots of underlines and highlighting. They've got the qualities it takes to succeed at university, of which useful independent reasoning may not be one.
boblobblawsays...Completely irrelevant: he has a passing resemblance to Brent Spiner. That is all.
NinjaInHeatsays...good point, though it is a sad statement

NetRunnersays...I've been watching through the whole series, and it's been just as fantastic, if not moreso than the first one here.
Part 8 in particular tickled my fancy.
calvadossays...This is really good. Also, that is a gorgeous auditorium.
