Ok, its funny and all...

but, and this stuff normally doesn't bother me and I hardly ever notice it, but the continuity of the shots in this is AWFUL. One minute his arm is up, then its down, then its on his chin.

That was the point. The joke at the Golden Globes was that Gervais was cruelly picking on an undeserving target. in that sense, I don't think the joke was really at Tim Allen's expense - we were laughing/cringing at the cruelty itself, rather than the target of the cruelty.
