Expert pilot lands helicopter on the wall. Takes off, too

Expert RC Helicopter Pilot Jason Krause sticks a wall landing at the 2009 AMA Expo. How it takes off from there is just as awesome!

I had to watch the dismount three times. How the hell? Does the prop have a reverse--or what?

Yup, they're setup for full speed in forward and reverse.

Obviously this can't work on life size helicopters as it takes too long for the rotors to slow down and re-spin up, but RC heli blades are so light and the motors are incredibly powerful for their size.

They can even do ceiling landings, as you can hear around the 10 second mark.

"what are we doing today, ceiling or?"
"No, no ceiling, only the wall".

Can't find the video I saw a couple of years ago, but here's another guy doing it:

Does the main motor actually reverse direction, or does it just reverse the angle of the blades?

The motor does not reverse, the blades can be tilted to produce lift in the other direction which allows it to fly upside down and do wall/ceiling landings.

Correct, heathen is wrong. The blades tilt to reverse direction. This actually has been used for a long time in full size aircraft too, helicopter blades will tilt as part of it's control mechanism. Also airplane props will tilt for the reverse thrust. Helis are generally not built for any type of reverse thrust though, it would need to be custom built.

That is far, FAR more impressive than this sift. I'll still upvote though, if I have to. I guess. Damn. Now I want one of these.>> ^mxxcon:

This is why I want to punch people that say "Look! It has to be an alien! There's no man-made craft that can move like that!">> ^mxxcon:
