nibiyabisays...So sad.
Tofumarsays...That was the most astonishing thing I've seen in a long time.
rottenseedsays...and to think this is the part of the world algebra came from. Looks like religion retards another aspect of logic.
K0MMIEsays...They didn't come to a conclusion? WHATS THE ANSWER?!
Kreegathsays...Sounds kind of like the debate on creationism.
Farhad2000says...This just proves that stupidity is international, multi-ethnic and irrespective of social or religious background.

10148says...Wow... I had to pinch myself and check the calendar for this one.
MarineGunrocksays...This guy has been spending too much time with Sherri Shepard.
sirexsays..."Sounds kind of like the debate on creationism"
my thoughts exactly.
RadHazGsays...islam used to have some really great ideas and scientists until the general muslim population decided to revert to a more hard line version of islam. which results in debates like this.
but never forget that they did invent the number 0, which is about all the intelligence contained within this conversation.
Irishmansays...Let's all laugh at the stupid Iraqis whilst 21% of American adults believe the sun revolves around the earth (Harris poll)
Majortomyorkesays...It would be nice to confirm this translation into English. In defence of this old man, who can really be sure? Any one here gifted enough to speak Arabic care to confirm at least part of the translation - preferably one concerning some of the more seemingly rediculous claims - to be accurate?
8466says...This, actually, is not that astonishing. There are idiots like this all over the world who want to, or, DO believe the world is flat for theological reasons. This is just one of many.
The amazing part is that they gave this cretin air time as a legitimate standpoint in the news
Tofumarsays..."Let's all laugh at the stupid Iraqis whilst 21% of American adults believe the sun revolves around the earth (Harris poll)."
I assure you I wasn't laughing.
bamdrewsays...Meh, I get junk religious channels here in Indiana that I could see having this debate.
Aemaethsays..."Anything that has no indication in the Koran is false." This seems like a discussion Galileo would have had.

BicycleRepairMansays...but never forget that they did invent the number 0, which is about all the intelligence contained within this conversation.
Zero was invented in India, before Islam came along. The word "Zero" is derived from Arabic (Sifr)
coolhundsays...This has not so much to do with religion as it has to do with belief.
Just look at our conspiracy nuts, they also argue the exact same way.
Belief is much, much stronger than realism and/or objectivity.
xxovercastxxsays...A flat earth would be equally illuminated at any given point in time, perhaps with a slight increase in brightness in the area closer to the sun, but still, it would be daytime simultaneously for the entire planet. So I'd like them to show this guy a live feed from the other side of the planet and have him explain why it's dark there in the middle of the day.
I'm guessing he'd just claim it was a trick, but he can connect to any number of webcams online and see, at least, the amount of sunlight. They can't all be fakes.
But I guess I'm being unrealistic. No amount of evidence will help this guy because he won't even consider it.
gwiz665says...Heh, "koranic science" that's like saying I've got idiot-smarts.
arrendeksays...This really echoes current debates about evolution. It's like looking at a mirror that helps idiots understand things by showing their counterparts in a religion they hate.
Yet, I bet they'll laugh and laugh and never see the resemblance to their own argument.
zorsays...If there are still people who believe in flat earth and an earth centric planetary system, then it is worth having the debate on TV every once in a while. It's either that or fill the TV time with Britney type stories. Also, consider for a moment the possibility that there are some people who don't need to know the facts. If it doesn't advance your cause then let them think what they want. Unless your cause is educating the entire planet. Perhaps consider narrowing your focus.
8266says...I am going to bet the scientist is going to get a visit from a suicide bomber.
Xaxsays...Yeah, there are no nutcases on TV in America. Imagine what other countries would think of Americans if they were to watch Fox News, or saw a debate about whether or not Evolution is plausible.
Whitesays..."so far, no doctor has succeeded in understanding how the eye works."
am i missing something? don't we learn this in like, elementary school?
my15minutessays...^ i'm afraid it's even worse than that, White.
most of what qualifies as the foundation, of the science of optics, was due to Arabs.
until another cycle of extremist views, on religious law and dogma, corrupted their (and our) science. again.
yet another startling realization from PBS's airing, when i was a kid, of James Burke's 'The Day the Universe Changed'.

more understanding of science and history, per minute, than any other source you will ever find, imho. an absolute requisite.
jwraysays...Even the pro-round advocate made a mistake. The mass of the moon is only 0.012 times the mass of the earth, but the smaller radius of the moon counteracts that partially so that the strength of the moon's gravity at the surface of the moon is g/6.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moon
jwraysays...*politics because WE NEED BETTER PUBLIC SCHOOLS DAMNIT
siftbotsays...Adding video to channels (Politics) - requested by jwray.
sometimessays...All religion is an addictive brain poison.
Kerotansays...Reminds me of Sheri Sheppard on the view.
